The
2010 South African Film and Television Awards took place in
Pretoria and
TVSA had the front row of the red carpet. I personally expected more out of them but was disappointed, the awards just happen to lack something and I believe that is what has led to them not being taken seriously by the people it aims to honour.
A lot of our artists were not present to collect their awards - some left half way through the ceremony.
Bathong...those awards are long heh? I left just after
Isidingo started to sweep everything it was nominated in. We sat all hours in the theatre waiting for an end that just seemed too far away, went out of the theatre all thirsty and were told that the drinks were only available after the show. Motho gase go swa ka lenyora? Now how do they expect us to sit tight with no drinks and food for 3 hours?
Anyway moving along .. Oh thank goodness I went there during the day to sort out any issues that could come up with accreditation - although that was a hassle too with systems down and so on - later, during the night, people found themselves booked in the same seats as others. There were 2 HOT journos behind me who were asked to move because some white dude and a lady had the seats as theirs but they didn't take none of it.
Earlier on, the red carpet was full of celebrities, no names and those making other people famous arriving to the noise made by the crowd. Now the PTA crowd never dissapoint - they even climb trees. When we left at 10:21PM there were still people outside which got me thinking maybe SAFTA should have had a big screen outside the
South African State Theatre.
Your Gal Bonang arrived with her date who looked like her high school classmate or something. B looked hot and greeted the crowd giving them hands, the security outside must have been annoyed cause they were beating the poor crowd hands going for Bonang's and she still continued offering her's Schweet she is such a celebrity. And people stop hating on her, leave her successful self alone.
These 4 arrived together, Winnie and Hubby together with DSM and the lady in blue. Is it the wife or girlfriend?
John Kani arrived with his lifetime partner as he said on stage, tjo this man must be annoyed by the J Hudson and Morgan freeman roles. He asked
"Why cant we play Mandela and Winnie?" Mara I think he would be suitable for playing Madiba though and seems like he wanted to but was shut out..
(Bamo Tswalela kontle)
City Press journo
Cassandra posed for me with partner.
Sophie Ndaba was not wearing a
VERY short dress this time and still looked good.
KB Motsilenyane arrived with her son who looks just like the dad. Too cute..
Now I know women have a thing for shoes and KB 's shoes caught my attention too. Beautiful stuff.
This guy everywhere he goes he never smile for the camera and seems the date caught up too
KSKD.
Palesa was there too, actually was presenting a certain award on stage. Cant tell which one like I said the list is too long even if they have cut the show in two ceremonies.
Uyanda Mbuli who arrived with her husband (They still married right?) Sisa seen her being interviewed for Seskhona. The Seskhona presenter like other ladies I saw had her breasts floating in the air all night Tjo. One even had the thing joining the two things thats hold the tits together off so the beautiful bra was holding loosley on its itself. Yes I noticed , I never said am not a perv remember? Besides such you cant ignore :)
I know its an IN thing of having cleavage out and so on which I loooove because am a huge fan of nice tits but having them all out all night on display come on ladies, Cheetah Woods is in the US and Shagga Zulu wasnt anywhere near the Union Buildings and some of us needed to concentrate on work :)
Winnie Modise and her Husband who is a camera man for the SABC.
Tshepo and Salamina Mosese interviewed by Zizo for Selimathunzi.
You all know her as Gladys on Generations forgot her real name eish..How come and the moTswana wa gaetsho.
Remember Xolile Shabalala? She used to play Julia Motene back in the days, yes she is still alive and looks slimmer.
The new powerful family in Mzansi circles, Sonia and Leslie Sedibe arrived looking awesome as always. They also left before the ceremony ended in a black Mercedez Benz written Bafana Bafana on the sides.
Mam Ruby and her Blackberry, mme o bathong...so sweet. She later took a few pics with my date. Nice.
They took the Nelson Madela bridge to Tshwane Pretoria, this must have been in line with the 20 years of his release I think. I loved the whole thing, it looked awesome. As for the skinny presenter arriving in an Audi no comment.
Thats Jamali and dancers on stage a view from where we were sitting. BTW thank Gaad I was on the ground this time, being up there feels like ke ko stadium.
I honestly dont know who this dude is but because he had a SAFTA while we were on our way out I decided to take a pic. He is probably a director or something of those many not so popular shows. Congrats dude!!
Now I gotta share this, a couple of times when an Award presenter announced the nominees then get to "The winner is" The crowd upstairs kept on saying "SABC" ....KSPKD. I hope the Organisers learn from that, why is it more SABC shows nominated while we all know they broadcast junk? Am sorry but being honest, another thing Zenzo who plays Stone on Rythm City why did you embarass yourself and Pabi Moloi so much? You didnt wanna present those awards or what? Such embarassment on national TV or were you acting?
Anyway, as I mentioned I didnt stick around for the afterparty or let alone finish the ceremony,I hope somebody will do something about these awards before they loose the remaining RESPECT they have. And please stop politicizing them, that would be a start. 1ne more thing if a show isnt on TV anymore why nominate it? Rather change the time the awards take place then, was also dissaponted Madla Thabethe was not on the "In Memory Of" I wonder why? Anyway thats it from me about these awards, I did TRY to have fun though.
