I was really looking forward to this movie because of all the reports that came out yonks ago about the chemistry and emotions Jennifer and Gerad share BUT from the first 10 seconds of the movie I was disappointed. .
The story is mainly centered around a passionate relationship between Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler) and Nicole Hurley (Jennifer Aniston) that resembled fireworks – starts out in a small flame then bursts into an amazing display which everyone is awed by then fizzles within seconds to NIKS!!! Like it never happened.
SO, Milo Boyd is a bounty hunter with a dark past that follows him around… yah, mafia, debt collectors, etc… AND his ex-wife, Nicole Hurley, is a reporter for the local paper who just recently got into trouble with the law. She misses her court appearance as she is chasing a lead on a story, and gets put on the wanted list. Milo gets the hunt and goes to find his ex-wife. He has trouble looking for him, his wife looks and finds trouble … That’s it!
The only shines are Nicole’s mother, Kitty Hurley (Christine Baranski), Bounty office secretary Teresa (Siobhan Fallon) and Nicole’ stalker colleague Stewart (Jason Sudeikis) as whenever they show up on the screen you will have a bit of a chuckle..
This is a case of Great actors happening to a bad script… Maybe if Jennifer’s role was played by goofy-gals Sandra Bullock or Cameron Diaz it would have sizzled the story a bit… Don’t get me wrong, Jennifer gave it her best but somehow the movie is just a flop for me… So I give it 2/5, one star for Jennifer, the other for Gerard…
The movie starts showing at Ster-Kinekor theaters on the 1 April 2010…
