So I come across this Drum magazine dated 04 November 2010 with Winnie Khumalo and her daughter, Retha on the cover. I didn't buy it coz the cover was not that interesting to me but when I saw it from a friend I decided to borrow it. There is this article of Peter Sephuma aka Miles on Rhythm City and Macks Papo aka Ivan Chinawa on Rhythm City.
When I saw them in this mag I thought they are chatting about their roles in Rhythm City. But it turns out they are talking about their friendship of more than 20 years and mostly about their experiences with women. They are so open about their experiences with women especially Peter Sephuma to a point were I was amazed by some of his statements. Without writing the full article here let me share some of the statements he made.
Peter Sephuma says to Drum magazine he had two wives. The first wife is Fedile Sephuma and the second one is Pumla Hopa, Isidingo's executive producer. He had a divorce with Pumla Hopa last year. He says in the article, he met his wife Fedile Sephuma when he was going out with Fedile's friend but when Fedile's friend introduced him to Fedile he knew Fedile would be the mother of his children. This was after Peter had a divorce with Nomsa Nene (who was the presenter of the game show Zama Zama) after he was accused of rape.
So basically Fedile Sephuma went out with her friend's man, I just wonder what that friend thought of both of them, Peter Sephuma and Fedile Sephuma. Anyway he says with Pumla Hopa it was love at first sight. Peter admits "there is no woman who doesn't have an issue with being in a polygamous marriage. They just learn to deal with it".
Now he amazes me when he talks about his children saying he doesn't regret his children - only the legitimate ones that is. He has three daughters with Fedile Sephuma and two sons with Pumla Hopa, one of them is the one playing Neo in Isidingo. Peter admits he has seven children out of wed-lock. This is what he says about them.
"I'm a sucker for kids but the ones I don't love are the ones I didn't agree to make. I don't want to know about those children. I believe a man shouldn't be forced into a family relationship just because he was having a fling and the woman decided to stop preventing the pregnancy".
This got my eyes wide open when I read it. This statement amazed me really, the fact that he doesn't love his children just because he didn't agree to make them. Why he didn't lay charges of rape if he was forced by these women to have sex with them? Why was he not responsible enough to use protection if he didn't want to have kids with these women? It amazes me to find that there are still man who blame woman for not preventing when a woman falls pregnant knowing that there are also condoms that a man can use to prevent pregnancy.
And now he is taking out all his anger with these women to his children saying he doesn't love them and he doesn't want to know about them. He is not even afraid to say this on a national magazine. But the fact that he doesn’t loves those children won't change the fact that he is the father to those children. Even though he doesn't love these children and not involved in raising them he does pay maintenance. This is what he says to Drum,
"I don't mind paying but the children must know their mothers forced me into that situation. The children I wanted grew up with me and they are Fedile's three girls and Pumla's two boys. I wanted them and I chose to have them with these women".
Haibo Peter Sephuma keeps on saying he was "forced" I don't understand how does an old man like him gets forced to have children. I really don't get this "they forced me." statement really. I am trying to understand how these women forced Peter to have children with them. Did they perhaps pull his pants down and forced him to have sex with them or they told him to not use protection or what. Even if that’s the case he should have said no or lay rape charges if those women were powerful enough to force him to have sex with them.
He also reveals in Drum that he was accused of rape twice but he was found not guilty after the first woman admitted she lied about him being the father of her unborn child. The other woman withdrew the charges. Here's Peter's message to young man especially celebrities.
"I want to warn young men, especially celebrities, to look out for themselves. Women are very tricky. I've ended up hurting my family because woman tricked me into sleeping with them and having kids. Women will intentionally fall pregnant because they think that’s the one way to keep a man. My advice is, don't let your vices destroy your family. I've ended up in trouble because of womanising - it's thrown me into serious problems where I really hurt my family and my children".
Hayi shem I would agree with Peter on that last part of his message only if he was man enough to admit his mistakes and stop blaming women saying they “forced” him to have kids with them and that they are tricky. Hayi no something is wrong with this man. Now he is playing victim now that he realises his actions have hurt his family and children but when he was having a nice time he didn't think about his family and children, haikhona.
