Cool news! A second TVSA Wishlist show will be arriving on our screens in early 2011. (The first was Boardwalk Empire, which premieres on M-Net next Wednesday, 22 December at 21h30.)

M-Net Series has confirmed that the channel has scooped the modern day western Justified. It stars Timothy Olyphant (of Deadwood and Damages) as a Deputy US Marshal with a passion for ... guess? ...

Click "Show" tab for the answer:

If you missed the news about it on the Wishlist, here's a blast to the article to fill you in:

justified_large_2The series is set in Hicksville, Kentucky (well, Harlan County actually), and follows Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens (Olyphant) on a wild bronco ride as he rounds up bad, bad men - or shoots them. Depends on them. As long as it's... Justified...

It's based on the short story Fire in the Hole by Elmore Leonard, whose novels and short stories have been made into several films including Get Shorty, Jackie Brown and Out of Sight. The TV series Karen Sisco was based on a character of his.

The show's title song - "Long Hard Times to Come" by Gangstagrass featuring T.O.N.E-z - is a bluegrass/rap mashup which sets the tone for the dirty, sweaty, rednecked themes of the show. It was nominated for an Emmy for best theme song.

Olyphant may be the eye candy and biggest bad-ass south of the Union line, but there is an amazing cast of supporting characters including Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins, The Shield), a hick who loves "blowing *bleep!* up" with industrial strength weapons like rocket launchers; his daddy Bo Crowder (M.C. Gainey, Lost), who controls the county's meth production; Winona Hawkins (Natalie Zea, Dirty Sexy Money), Raylan's ex-wife who loves and hates him in equal measure; and Raylan's delightful father Arlo Givens (Raymond J. Barry, Cold Case), who despises his son so much he would sell him out in a heartbeat to cut a deal.

Shirt'less perves we can look forward to.

The only trouble with it is that it's going to be on the wrong channel. Like Dark Blue which is also on Series, it should be on M-Net Action. I'm not going to get overly iffy about it though - I'm too pleased we get to see it.

It premieres in February. Date to be confirmed.

Here's a kickbutt music video of the opening theme, with clips of the season. As you'll see it makes you wanna be a marshal, an outlaw, a rapper, a sharp-shooter and on every side of law, all at the same time:
