On Sunday night (27 February) Bonang Matheba was the second celeb to be voted out of Tropika Island of Treasure. She was voted out by pleb contender Allan Whitaker, following the stilletos of Khanyi Mbau who left with pleb contender Shandir Krishna.

I caught up with gal B for us to find out why she cried when she got the chop and what reality show she wants to be on next ...

Tashi: Everyone recommended that Allan vote JR out but he voted you out - why do you think he chose you instead?
Bonang: I'm not too sure. I read an interview where he said that I was a big threat to him, that I was liked by a lot of the people on the island so I had an upper hand with convincing people to do certain things. It was a strategic decision and a very good one.

Tashi: Before you left were there alliances starting to happen?
Bonang: Ja, definitely - there was Allan and Clayton, who had quite a strong alliance, there was Thandi and Dionne who had an alliance and there was Latoya and Andile who were also in alliance - and Loyiso and JR who were in another alliance.

Tashi: That's interesting in the case of Thandi and Dionne - a pleb and schleb partnership. Where did you fit in with it all?
Bonang: I was very friendly with a lot of people, I was very close with JR, very close with Clayton, very close with Khanyi and 'toya so I think that's what Allan saw - that the majority of the people on my side so he thought: "You know what, let me nip it in the ass before it goes anywhere else."

Tashi: Why did you cry when you got voted out?
Bonang: I'm a cryer. I'm Cancerian, I'm a super-sensitive, highly emotional, strung-out person. It was natural, I mean I cry when I bump into something small or if I break a glass. I'm just a very emo woman, it comes naturally to me.

Tashi: Did you think you would last longer?
Bonang: For me it was about having fun, hanging out on the island, meeting new people and then after two days you realise: "Oh wow, okay, people are taking this seriously - I should have maybe taken this seriously from the beginning," but I was there mainly to have a good time.

I was a bit surprised but I was grateful that I could come back home and get back to work and stuff like that."

Tashi: Did you hook up with Khanyi in Malaysia to shop once you left Phuket?
Bonang: No, I actually didn't see her until the airport - I went shopping on my own and then we met, well I saw her at the airport and then we came back on the same flight. She stayed overnight and then went to the airport.

Tashi: What did you buy in Malaysia?
Bonang: Lots of teas, green teas, lots of candles and souvenirs like Thai fans and little fridge magnets and things like that.

Tashi: If you'd won the challenge, who would you have voted out?
Bonang: Um Tatum I think - for sending off my friend so I was waiting and eager to get back and get my revenge. That didn't pan out the way it was supposed to but all's well that ends well.

Tashi: Were there tensions under the surface because of that?
Bonang: Ah definitely not.

Tashi: Oh, I thought you were going to say definitely.
Bonang: No, not for me - I don't know how everybody else felt but I'm not a grudge-holding person - I just let things be. From my side I was just in a victorious, celebratory party mood.

Tashi: Did people mention the vote to Tatum - in the company? Or did everyone pretend it didn't happen?
Bonang: Ja no everyone pretended it didn't happen and kind of carried on and wanted to concentrate on the next day.

Tashi: Who would you like to see win?
Bonang: Andile or Snotkop. They're very silent, strategic, careful, sweet men who are very, very strong contenders. You wouldn't think much of them until you see them in acton and they're awesome.

Tashi: Who do you think will win?
Bonang: I think a guy definitely. The challenges as well, they're very physical, which means a lot more of the guys are going to win them.

I think a guy is definitely going to take it away, I'm not too sure who but I'm hoping Andile or Snotkop.

Tashi: Do you think it's unfair on the girls?
Bonang: Not at all, if you team up with a guy then it's fine, it's the nature of the game. On Survivor they're also very physical and stratgeic - on other games they're also physical. If you play your cards right I don't think it's unfair.

Tashi: Who do you definitely not want to win? Tatum??
Bonang: I want a celeb to win, definitely. I want any one of them to win so long as they share their millions with me or take me out to dinner or something.

You know, it would be in bad spirit if I said who I don't want to win 'cos at the end of the day someone does have to win and just because I was voted off doesn't mean I have to be bitter about it.

Tashi: What would you have done with the cash if you'd won?
Bonang: Paid off the rest of my house, in one sweep, definitely.

Tashi: Having done the show, which other reality show would you like to do?
Bonang: I'd definitely like to do Tropika again because it was such a great experience because you get to hook up with celebrities outside of work and see who they truly are.

Tashi: Would you do a celebrity Survivor?
Bonang: No, I would never - I think that's a little too hectic. I still want breakfast in the morning, I still wat a hot shower, I still want a comfortable bed, I still want the internet so I wouldn't do it.

I'd do something easy, something like Project Runway, putting clothes together or styling people, that would be nice. I wouldn't do anything on a remote island, that's definitely not me, I would literally collapse and fall into pieces.

Tashi: What about Big Brother?
Bonang: Ja I'd love to do Big Brother, there's food, there's shelter, it brings out a different side of you - people are always watching you which is awesome.

Also it's in Jo'burg which means if you get voted out you get to go home immeiately and carry on with my life. So long as it has to do with other people - other magnificent people, awesome, wonderful personalities, then I'm happy.

Tashi: And Idols? Can you sing?
Bonang: I'd love to host or judge on Idols but not enter - I can't sing.

Tashi: Me too.
Bonang: I can't act either so that's also out.

Tashi: How do you know?
Bonang: You can tell when you're good at something or not. I mean I've been in a couple of auditions where I was supposed to act and I was horrible. Acting's definitely not up my alley.

Tashi: Especially with the singing thing, I always feel, at least one has it in perspective - unlike most of the people who go to the auditions.
Bonang: Those who go there and actually think they can sing. Ja, I do have friends who are really honest me.

Tashi: That's the thing.
Bonang: You'd think they'd be honest with you and say like: "Hey dude, don't."

Tashi: Then you often also see people's families with them going: "Oh they're so brilliant," meanwhile.
Bonang: Ja, which ryhthm and rhyme are you listening to? When it gets into your head it becomes some other song.

Tashi: If you were to do the show again, what would you do differently?
Bonang: From the get-go I'd start with an alliance, get my game-face on as soon as I land, not just go there to have fun.

Tashi: Of the crowd this season, who would have allied with?
Bonang: JR, Loyiso, Andile and Khanyi - I think we would have caused serious havoc if we were there. And one of the other girls as well.
