TVSA can confirm that SABC1's drama series
Montana will be returning for a second season later this year.
A high profile cast member on the show has confirmed to us that fliming on Season 2 starts in a month.
The show, which debuted as a weekly series in April 2009, centres round the lives of four eclectic families who find their lives brought together by their homes and businesses in Montana.
Filmed on location in Cape Town, a second season renewal has been on cards since early 2010 but hasn't been booked and confirmed until now.
Also on the horizon since the debut of the show: the possibility that the series will become a new daily soapie, which is looking increasingly likely and timely.
Big news on the SABC1 front is that the channel will be making a dramatic change to the 18h00 timelot in October. Acting channel head Leo Manne has confirmed that
The Bold and the Beautiful will be leaving the channel to move to SABC3.
Word from Manne is that Bold will be replaced by local shows that appeal to a younger audience too so that there's more synchronicity with properties such as
Mzansi Insider and
Selimathunzi in the early evening timeslot .
With the news of Montana's return it's looking
very likely that the channel will put it's comeback in this vacant timeslot, as the daily soapie it was intended to be.
The Season 1 finale (on 29 September 2009) attracted
3,840,000 viewers, coming second only to SABC1's consistent top audience puller Generations.
A sign that it'll become a daily soapie? We're convinced it is.
Are you looking forward to the shows' return?
