Following the runaway success of Season 1 on SABC1,
Intersexions will be back for a Season 2.
No premiere date has been confirmed for it yet but word is it'll most likely premiere in early 2013, for another 26-episode season.
This may seem a long way away, but the series is staying true to the first season which involved vast research and preparation before it debuted in October last year.
As a result of the show's success and the dramatic viewer response to it, the series will be involving viewers directly in the action of the new season and has launched a nationwide search for stories.
If you have a story you'd like to tell through the show, you can submit it to the production and it may be selected to be turned into an episode.
Here's more about it all from the release:
Intersexions II is on the way and the production team wants to tell your stories. If you want to be part of a fantastic show, a great production, a talented cast and a gripping story line, then this is your opportunity.
The producers are asking for your creative input through stories from your life, community, school, university or taxi rank - in fact, any place where people’s lives intersect!
“We’re delighted with the support and interest expressed by viewers throughout the broadcast of Intersexions series I,” says JHHESA managing director, Richard Delate.
“20:30 on a Tuesday - as well as on Fridays, during the series rebroadcast - meant one thing for local TV audiences: take out your phones and get ready to tweet through the next episode of Intersexions. That motivated us to involve the viewers in Intersexions II, and challenge them to contribute to their favourite drama by sharing their real-life stories with us."
“Everybody has an interesting story to tell, and what better way to share it than with the Intersexions creative team?” says Delate.
Your story may be real-life, something you may have experienced; it could be something that you have observed in your community; or it could be a creative idea that you have come up with. You can write down the story, craft a poem, develop a song, take a photograph or even create a work of art.
“This is your opportunity to show off your creative talents. The stories we are looking for need to dig deep into the lives and attitudes of ordinary South Africans. We want you to get beneath the surface of what is known about love, sex, relationships, violence, living with HIV and why people are still contracting HIV today,” says Delate.
The top 30 stories that inspire the Intersexions writing team will receive their own free copy of the Intersexions I box set - which is being released at the end of November.
Successful entrants will be credited in the credit rolls for Intersexions II with the line 'Story inspired by ...', and the authors of the top 10 submissions will be invited to the launch of Intersexions II.
To enter, send your story by email to: intersexions@jhuccp.co.za.
Alternatively, you can send your entries by mail to: Intersexions, PO Box 98136, Waterkloof Heights 0065. Entries close on Thursday, 1 December and the top entrants will be announced on Facebook and the Intersexions blog on 10 December.
The show will also be introducing further ways for viewers to get involved as the production process moves forward, including a search for viewers to act in one or more of the episodes. We'll keep you posted.
