7de Laan composer Louis van Rensburg has died at the age of 68. The stalwart composer was admitted to Garden City's ICU with pneumonia and passed away on Sunday (9 September 2012).
Louis has been an integral part of the soapie since it's debut in 2000. He worked closely with 7de Laan producers Danie Odendaal and Annie Basson and wrote the soapie's theme tune as well as the background music for every episode.
“Louis never chose the easy way out," says Danie. "He often toiled long hours, days and weeks to write music that’s spot on for a specific storyline.
"It also took a lot of blood, sweat and tears before we agreed over the right theme music for 7de Laan but is was all worth it, because today it is among his big successes - even dogs and babies react to it!”
Word from the 7de Laan set is that the cast, crew and series producers are shocked, sad and still reeling at the news. As a result they haven't yet thought about or decided how the show's music will be handled in the future.
