In the United States of America Halloween is a highly recognised festive day celebrated on 31 October. Halloween is known for its gory, scary and sometimes humourous costumes.
This year, like last year, Walkers (the name to the fans of The Walking Dead) around the world are rejoicing because they will be celebrating Halloween earlier than the rest.
On Sunday, 14 October, the highly anticipated third season of The Walking Dead will premierè in the US and unfortunately South African Walkers will just have to wait an extra two day as it will on hit South African television screen on 16 October 2012. Season 2 was a critical and commercial success.
The season finale was lauded for its storylines and character progression. It attracted 9 million viewers. It even earn the distinction of the highest rated cable show of all time.
The cast and crew of the show are hoping to better that record over the course of the third season.
In the third season Rick Grimes and his fellow survivors continue to seek asylum in the vicious, post-apocalyptic world and they soon discover that there are greater forces to be terrified of than the zombies.
Season 3 will follow Rick's transitional transformation into a much darker and more hostile character. The new season will also introduce new characters, including the Governor and the highly anticipated fan favourite Michonne.
For now Walkers have to impatiently settle for the teasers and re-watch the entire box-set all over again. Catch The Walking Dead 3 on Tuesday 16 October at 21h15 on FX (TopTV channel 110).
