First TopTV
lost Showtime, Silver and Star! and now the struggling paycaster's lost exclusivity on some of the platform's biggest drawcards.
Fox International has overhauled the network's Fox Entertainment channel which has only been available on TopTV.
Until now.
The channel will be changing name to FOX and will be launching on the DStv Premium bouquet in early April, in HD.
Both TopTV and DStv will now have the exact same channel, in the same way TLC and Fashion TV double up on both platforms.
The channel's going to become the custodian of Fox International's most buzzworthy series including the ratings rocket
The Walking Dead, Steven Spielberg's
Falling Skies, fantasy series
Da Vinci's Demons and the anticipated reality series
Being Mandela.
Flagship hot properties used to be split between Fox Entertainment and Fox FX on TopTV and now they'll all air on the one channel instead. Fox Retro and Fox FX will remain on TopTV and Fox FX and will be skewed towards a more male viewership. Word from an insider is that new shows will be introduced on FX too but there's no confirmed word on what these will be yet.
DStv viewers will be able to catch-up on The Walking Dead before the new fourth season starts later this year. The channel will be repeating Seasons 1 to 3 in the build-up to the Season 4 premiere.
FOX launches on DStv on Tuesday, 9 April 2013 on channel 125 on the Premium bouquet. The new branding of the channel on TopTV will be live from Wednesday, 10 April.
