Survivor SA Panama Summary
Episode 10

After a quick recap of last week’s episode, we are taken to the Dead Man’s Island.

Dead Man’s Island
Brigitte is reunited with Mzi. Brigitte states that the thought that it would be Mzi because he poses the most physical threat to the former Rana tribe. Mzi states that if Gareth had a backbone, he wouldn’t be on DMI, but he feels that DMI is “like that little thing he begged everyone for”

Burba, Day 21
Lezel says that she’s adaptable, and even though she misses Mzi, she is sure that they can adapt and find food; maybe not fish, but definitely other types of food. Jacinda states that it’s cut-throat time, and that they (former Rana) had a numbers advantage and that they are using it. Meanwhile, Gareth and Zayn seem to cement their alliance. Vanessa thinks that they are too smug.

Dead Man’s Island
Mzi states that he cares nothing for Lezel, and that it’s all good having vales and integrity, but only interacting with people when you want to, is just bigotry. Mzi and Brigitte discuss Lezel.

Burba
Vanessa thinks that the boss around camp is Lezel. Lezel thinks that there is a misperception about her and her motivations.

Reward Challenge
Mark welcomes them and enquires about the bandage on Lezel’s leg (she was bitten by a spider). The aim of the challenge is to build a tower higher than any of the other survivors. However, there are twists. Once the survivor thinks that his or her tower is high enough, they will step into the safe zone. If someone builds a higher tower, the survivor can re-enter the game and add to his/her tower. However, if the tower topples over and some of the blocks go into another survivor’s area, the blocks cannot be reclaimed. They have 5 minutes in which to build the highest tower. At the end of the 5 minutes, whoever is not in the safe zone will be disqualified.

Gareth gets to an early lead, but his tower topples and is forced to start all over. Vanessa streaks into the lead, and heads out to the safe zone, but her tower topples as well. Gareth heads out and sits in the safe zone, but Vanessa’s tower surpasses his and he is forced to head back to build a higher tower. Vanessa wins the reward and elects to take Gareth with her.

Burba
Vanessa explains why she chose Gareth (He’s a good guy even though he’s a softie). Gareth and Vanessa head off to enjoy their reward. They are whisked off to a luxurious hotel where Vanessa says that she intends working Gareth. He needs to change his strategy if he wants to make it the end she says. Gareth shaves off his beard.
Back at Burba, Zayn and Lezel have a heated discussion over the decision to get rid of Mzi. “I think you trust other people more than me” he tells Lezel.

Dead Man’s Island
Mzi catches a fish. “I’m the king of this thing” he says.

Burba, Day 22
Vanessa and Gareth return to camp. They refer to the hotel as a “pimp style hotel”, stating that it’s very “Las Vegas”. Vanessa says that if things work out she has a chance of making the final 3 at least.

Dead Man’s Island
Days are spent lazing. There’s no rush on DMI and one can spend time just rejuvenating their bodies says Mzi. He also states that everyone was expecting a jury… but nothing. 

Immunity Challenge
The survivors are taken out in a boat to the middle of the ocean. Mark welcomes onboard the “The Jose’”. He explains that one of the main subsistence’s of the islands is fishing. Their immunity challenge is to catch as much fish as possible in 30 minutes. They have 30 minutes in which to catch the fish, and in case of a tie, the fish will be weighed. Mark brings in the bait.

Gareth gains an early leads which the others never really get close to. After 10 minutes, Gareth has 7 fish, Vanessa has 4, Zayn has no fish, Lezel has one, and Jacinda has 2. After 20 minutes, Gareth is still in the lead with 12 fish and eventually after the half hour is up, Gareth wins immunity for the third straight time.

The survivors leave their fish behind and head off back to their camp.

Burba
Gareth explains why they cannot go fishing – they have only one hook and no sinker. They eat the bait instead. “Beggars can’t be choosers” he says. Lezel says that she’d like to win something at least, because Gareth seems to be winning Immunity all the time. Gareth and Jacinda discuss strategy.

Dead Man’s Island
Brigitte says that she hopes that Vanessa will get voted out and join her and Mzi on DMI. Mzi catches another fish.

Burba
Vanessa feels that “the writing is clearly on the wall” and she spends the day as she wishes. Gareth and Jacinda keep discussing strategy and Gareth tells Jacinda that “if I win immunity, or Zayn wins Immunity, I will not put your name down”. To the cameraman he says that he feels comfortable enough to start picking off the former Rana members. He tells Jacinda that he doesn’t want to vote Zayn off and she, in return states that she doesn’t want to vote Lezel off.

Tribal Council

Vanessa is voted off 4-1

Next week: Relationships become strained on Burba.
