Finally, April 14th came and Joburg took over Sun City. I will skip my "getting there drama" and go straight to the fabulous Yellow Carpet.
I am so proud of the musicians for going to great lengths to look good and if Mgarimbe looked delicious on the Yellow Carpet, which he did, then you gotta know that we aren't far off from the Grammy's and the Oscars.
BIG UP to the SAMA website for having the pictures available so quickly after the event, now that's what I'm talking about!!!
So, let's see who rocked what and as usual, the pictures are accompanied by my sometimes scandalous thoughts....
What in the freaking hell possessed Sbusiso Leope to come the 13th Annual South African Music Awards looking like he just stepped out of the set of my "How Not To Walk The Red Carpet" movie??
DJ Sbu, I am traumatized. I have reason to believe that this man knew exactly what he was doing because I looked at him from head to toe and just said
"Haaa Sbu!!!!" and he laughed like he knew exactly what I meant
My Society gal whom I shall always refer to as Inno was there looking good. She also presented an award and I loved seeing her up on that stage. She was funny too!
Relo was there with a cute brother and I would really like to apologize to her for us stealing her man during the show.
We were sitting next to her and the bro during the show and he couldn't help but join in our loud madness (& cuteness) and she seemed kinda pissed with being ignored like that. He's a cool guy Relo, well done!
As for the lady next to Relo, he actually had a "yellow carpet" date and when she disappeared he was looking all over for her and going "
Where is my date?? You see, I'm trying to change and go out with a woman now this happens!!!"We were all in stiches!!!
The Bala Brothers walked it cutely as usual and the reply I got when I told Zwai and Loyiso that I was 14 was some serious headshaking and a
"Hayi hayi hayi, leave my brother alone" from Loyiso.
Really people that boy looks nothing like 16!!! Are they already that sexy at 16??
Amor & Joost were there looking absolutely stunning.... They are such a bubbly couple!
While complimenting her on how beautiful I thought she was, Joost proudly to me "
The back was my idea" so I kindly asked for a shot of the view...
Eish, I have one word for you girl, DARING!! While expressing my shock to a friend she said
"Well, she ain't got strech marks on her bum so why should she hide it?"
I checked her out at the afterparty but the "kgoropo" was safely tucked in so I guess this was just pushed low for the Yellow Carpet.
The Channel O starlet was there looking fab as usual.
KC from Umhlobo we Nene was there with his date. Glad to see he's coming out of the closet.
Yeah, I agree, Kuli looks great without the hair!! I love it.
She really was struggling to breathe in that stunning Sun Goddess creation but she looked beautiful. Pity they couldn't hook up her partner with a more "relevant" outfit.
My boy Lesego walked the Carpet for the first time in his life and he did well. His date must just try a bit harder next time.
Am so proud of him for walking away with the Best Urban Pop award, well deserved!!
Noeleen was looking grand maan but I would still like to know why she was not sitted with the VVIP's right next to the stage?
Oh well, at least she got to sit in the same row as me and right behind her were Former Miss SA, Joan Ramagoshi with her hubby as well as Connie & Shona Ferguson amongst others so perhaps she wasn't as misplaced as I thought.
I did say that Mgarimbe was looking stunning. He was wearing dark pants with this and I thought he looked cool. Don't know about Jabu and that jacket. Doesn't look like as perfect a fit as Mgarimbe's.
Yho, I love the MORAFE guys, such sweethearts!!! They lost out to Lesego on the Urban Pop category but that doesn't take anything away from the talent.
Looked like the Ghetto Ruff was taking over the carpet with the JOZI boys blinging it up like that.
Les, Ish, Bongani & Crazy Lou brought America to the carpet and there's just something about them that makes we go "Oh!". I thought Leslie was very cute until I saw him up close. Now Lou on the other hand is very, very, very beautiful for a man. I told him he was cute and he was like "
Yeah, I'm 29 but I know I look like a 16 year old." He seemed kinda "out of it" when he said this so whether he really is 29, I don't know.
Ringo walked the carpet alone and looking XHOSA like he always does. I should have asked him what he thought of Umthunzi We Ntaba....
SHANA looking glamorous. Haa boys, ningiphul'intliziyo maan!!
You know the carpet ain't the carpet till Kelly Khumalo walks and adds her flesh to it. So is this a hit or miss?? I can't seem to decide.
One thing about Kelly is that she knows how to transform herself coz I could not recognize her at all!!!
Kelly & Khanyi exchanging tips on "How To Remain In The Headlines". By the look of things, I think they agreed that Khanyi should be the next to be on a tabloid cover.
Eish Mandla, that smile is so fake bro!!!
Jealousy aside folks, Khanyisile Mbau is a very beautiful woman and I love how she looks. This woman had a baby in December but check that out!!! Too bad her gay show got cancelled by SABC 1. I miss her on my screen.
As for her exchange with Kagiso Lediga during the awards, well damn!!
Clearly he and Sbu have the same stylist! Sies maan KC!!
Miss SA, whose name I have no clue of Zizo, Miss SA Teen were there looking gorgeous.
Lira was there with her boyfriend. I love her earings and it seems she loves them too coz I've seen them on her a couple of times.
As for Miss Purple-Shoes-On-A-Wrong-Outfit, I got one 5 letter word for you gal and it starts with a B.
And that's for asking me what the picture was for even though you were on the "YELLOW CARPET". Did she think I was taking their picture for my personal album? And what makes her think I would want her in my album anyway?? Damn cow!!
Thanks to her boyfriend for answering for me and telling her that I was the MEDIA!!! Sh!t, and they say blondes are stupid!!
Mafikizolo and spouses. Nhlanhla should win awards for her style...no one beats her in that department.
I don't know how it happened that Danny "Always with my Parents" K wore the exact same outfit as Theo from Mafikizolo but not only their suits matched, the ties, shirts, and shoes did too!!!
That's a woman's worst ever nightmare!
Penny and Kuli conducting carpet interviews "E" style. Heinz "Stiff as hell" Winkler pulled an Elana on me later on....
Penny giving lessons on "How To Strike A Red Carpet Pose'....she looked amazing.
Kaos interviewing Nhlanhla for Selimathunzi.
With all the presenters who get fired and everything, why is Kaos still on Selimathunzi????? If there is any programme out there that needs a makeover, it is Selimathunzi.
Lotsa kisses to L'Vovo Derango for this attempt! This is how a MAN OF THE MOMENT should look like!!
Hope the pants weren't too tight.
My issue with Make up is seeing beautiful people not looking beautiful after application but nevertheless Swazi Dlamini is beautiful. Pity I can't say the same about her lips.
Zama Ngcobo and her Ukhozi FM co-host Linda Sibiya looking glam. She looks like Cinderella, I love her dress!
I wonder if the Generations wardrobe guys know that Sphiwe Mtshali took Ajax's jacket to wear at the SAMA's!! Either that or he should quit watching repeats of The Fast and The Furious.
That little exchange he and Psyfo had on stage was pathetic but then again, it could have been me thinking I was watching Generations....ewww.
Okay, I am very pissed off at Lungsta's date for being so perfect. I needed to criticize not compliment her....
Oh they make such a cute couple, damn!!
What would a Red/Yellow carpet be without Uyanda Mbuli? She was posing with Lesly Mofokeng (Sunday Times) and Sophie Ndaba. Eish umkhaba ka Sophie!!!
Is black velvet hot again? I see Bad Boy T was rocking it too.
After my "brief" encounter with Uyanda Mbuli the verdict is:
Uyanda Mbuli is a genuinely nice person and she is very beautiful!!!!!!!So what are your thoughts on the Yellow Carpet? You digg??
Catch you on my awards chat but before that,
HOLLA!!!
