Strictly Come Dancing III

Last night was the first elimination round of the show and what a let-down it was for me. My impressions on the show follow below.

Sandy's dress inspired mixed-feelings from me (I still don't know if I liked the dress or not) but I am increasingly getting tired of her giggle-a-minute antics. Geez, her teens were ages ago!! I was looking at her lips and thinking there's some woman in a doctor's room, going "I want lips like Sandy. Don't skimp on the collagen, doc!"

Okay, back to SCD.

1. Lesley Mofokeng and Sara (Ramba)

The song this couple danced to gave BraLes a different aura..almost sensous and sexy in a boyish kinda way. At some point during their dance, I felt like I was watching a couple's foreplay. I liked..no, make that, loved it! I thought I was falling in love with Lesley...even left him a message on his blog. Phew!

Judges' scoring: D=5, S=7, L=7, T=7 TOTAL SCORE= 26

2. HHP and Haylee (Tango)

Is this possible? Is HHP defying the odds? He looked bigger than last week!!! Man-Eater was done such an injustice..I felt like jumping into the TV screen, grabbing that mic and singing the song myself-nxx. HHP danced well although he looked like he was holding his breath. I loved the shoes he wore, at least his shoe size looked like a size 7.

Judges scoring: D=7, S=8, L=8, T=7 TOTAL SCORE=30

3. Candice Moodley and Quintus (Rumba)

Candice looked sexy. A face-pic of her in that makeup/hairstyle combo would make a great portrait. I found the dance lacking in feeling and I got a sudden attack of the sneezes. Their dance came nowhere close to Les and Sara's dance and I was actually twiddling my thumbs when they were dancing.

Judges' scoring: D=6, S=8, L=7, T= 7 TOTAL SCORE=28

4. Mary and Erald

Ag shame, poor Erald's bones were complaining. And what was all that talk about their relationship?? It's a dance competition old man, not a compatibility test, you know. Ungazo stressa uMary, she has enough stress on her face!!

Loved the song the danced to (Oh come and dance with me, my baby, let's dance till we go crazy, the night is young and so are we, let's make love.....hmm)

Mdala pulled off the moves perfectly but he really must stop dragging his feet.

Judges' scoring: D=5, S=6, L=7, T=6 TOTAL SCORE=24

5. Lieschen and Ryan

Lieschen looked like Renate Stuurman (i hope that's her name) in those braids, ne? They looked gr8 on her. Ryan was the only one feeling passion on that stage last night, Lieschen looked so bored, thus making the dance dull. She must never, ever, ever wear that dress again!

Judges' scoring: D=7, S=6, L=6, T=4 TOTAL SCORE-=23

6. Patricia Lewis and Marcel

Patricia is a woman that takes mothering seriously..taking breaks between dance practice to cuddle with baby, awww. Were they practicing in her home? I loved that back-kick she did at the beginning of their dance, she made it look so effortless! MamaPat has a beautiful body but did she have to shove her boobs in Marcel's face like that? Her back was so far arched (is it?), that it gave the impression that Marcel needed breath mints...

Judges' scoring: D=5, S=6, L=7, T=5 TOTAL SCORE= 23

7. Hezekiel Sepeng and Lindsay

Hey, I laughed when Hezekiel compensated his 35 minute tardiness by giving Lindsay a bear-hug. I am from now on, boycotting my listening services to Hezekiel.

His hip-turns made me think of another kind of thrust *wink*wink*. He seemed to be the pillar of strength (literally) for Lindsay..I didn't see any dance moves from him. He was either balancing his partner's leg, keeping his partner from falling or generally trying hard not to look like he was enjoying himself. BS did say he might suprise all of us and win and Tyrone agreed with her by uttering the words, "You're definitely the one to look out for, " then he went ahead and gooi'd a 6!! That (Tyrone) man had better not be a Gemini man.

I still have my doubts about Hezekiel, though. I'll take my chances and risk eating my own words.

Judges' scoring: D=8, S=8, L=7, T=6 TOTAL SCORE=29

8. Thembisile and Thato

Saving the best for last, huh? That whining about their scores was just so pathetic. Thembi said about Thabo, "Every time he says the same thing, I wanna stangle him." I was like, I'll help keep your hands on his neck, Thems.

That dress she wore looked too busy for me and what was with peach shoes? I never in my life thought I'd see that colour on anyone's shoes (unless it's a bridesmaid). I loved the way the doek was accessorised, though. What is an Argentinian tango, anyone?

Judges' scoring: D=6, S=8, L=7, T=7 TOTAL SCORE= 28. I literally saw the expression BEAM WITH PRIDE on Thabo's face last night.

I was almost in tears when Lesley was eliminated. Sara shed my tears for me.
