Singer
Patricia Lewis and her dance partner
Marcel Vilonel were the third couple eliminated from
Strictly Come Dancing III on Thursday night.
Patricia almost lost her crown during their routine and in the end she and Marcel had to part with the possibility of the ballroom dancing crown and hang up their dancing shoes.
The judges' score placed Patricia and Marcel in fourth position (joint last place with
Lieschen and
Ryan) and the audience agreed with them.
Dave thought they were disappointing and
Tyrone thought they "danced a langarm".
Marcel pleaded with the judges to take into account that Patricia was really busy and that they had only one day to learn the routine. But it just goes to show - if you don't put in the time you sure ain't gonna shine.
In Patricia's words, the audience will find her on holiday in the groen dakkies.
First up,
Candice and
Quintus lit up the Carlton Hotel's ballroom dance floor with a Bollywood-themed Samba. In the insert Quintus commented that Candice was becoming like him – a perfectionist!
But this did not help them. Even though Dave commended their movement around the floor and
Lillian said that they did a little Carnival on Calmettes, they did not score well with the judges. The judges' score placed them third.
Hezekiel and
Lindsey, whom the audience's votes saved last week, again impressed the judges. Tyrone and
Salome, who both favour the Samba over the Viennese Waltz, thought that this couple was the best of the evening.
And it showed in their scores: for the first time they toppled
HHP and
Hayley from their three weeks in a row lead with a score of 31 from the judges.
The studio audience was literarily on their feet when they danced to Brenda Fassie's "Vulindlela".
HHP and Hayley, who tied last week in first place with Candice and Quintus, did not make the cut this week with their Viennese Waltz. HHP found the dance the "greatest with the most difficult steps".
The steps and a knee injury put them in second place, according to the judges' scores.
Lillian thought they were controlled and elegant and Tyrone wanted them to stop playing it safe and give him more.
Lieschen and Ryan tried a bit of fairytale magic to try and influence the judges to score them higher. Lieschen, like a Cinderella, cleaned the floor and Ryan sprinkled some fairy dust over her.
This, however, did not impress the judges. Lillian uncharacteristically said that she did not like Lieschen's posture and Tyrone wanted her to start dancing with her feet.
They were in joint last place with Patricia and Marcel, according to the judges' scores.
Erald and
Mary looked even more relaxed for the second week in a row and the audience gave them a standing ovation.
Salome said that Erald could lead her any day and Lillian thought that Prince Charming took the floor.
Even though they received excellent remarks from the judges they did not score high and were placed in joint third place with Candice and Quintus, according to the judges' score.
