The "dark horse" of this year's
Strictly Come Dancing season, Olympic silver medallist
Hezekiel Sepeng, was the 5th celeb to be eliminated on Thursday night.
Hezekiel and
Lindsay tried to up their game this week, and decided to have a throw-back to the nineties with Pretty Woman for their Tango and Michael Jackson’s Black or White for their Cha-Cha respectively.
Hezekiel had, according to
Dave, the lady judges’ hearts racing with their Cha-Cha and
Tyrone said their Tango needed more oomph. The judges’ score placed them in third place.
The public seem to have agreed and they were voted out in an emotional farewell.
Erald and
Mary are still struggling to get off the bottom of the log - only the public votes are keeping them in the show.
Lillian loved Erald’s spirit in the Rumba and thought that he and his partner delivered a very controlled performance. But all was still not well - as far as their dances were concerned, their Quickstep and their Tango placed them last.
Candice and
Quintus have become a studio audience favourite and this week danced a mesmerizing tango. “As the rose among the thorns go out and get those boys,”
Salome commanded.
In the Cha-Cha they came out as hip hop boxers, but this did not stop the judges from disapproving, placing them in second position.
Celebrity guest Lee-Ann Liebenberg was especially impressed with this couple and gushed: “I so badly want to do this: the dresses are so beautiful! I am supporting the only girl left in this competition!”
Finally,
HHP and
Hayley regained the top spot – making them, once again, the favourites to win the competition. Hayley had some strong words with HHP this week during their training - and it worked.
The judges loved their Quickstep with comments like Dave’s: “Sizzling, sparkling, steaming Quickstep - the best Ballroom dance tonight!”
Their Rumba impressed the audience and Tyrone gave his highest praise for any dance of the evening: “An authentic Rumba! You did really well!”
Singer Danny K was at the event to support him. “I’ve known HHP since the beginning of my career," he said. "He is amazing me: you certainly don’t see any 50c moves there!”
We should hope not.
You can vote for your favourite couple by sending an SMS to 34766 (at R2 per SMS) or by phoning 083 913 4766 and following the voice prompts. Every week R5,000 is up for grabs in the viewers’ competition.
