Hein & Lorette's Showdown - Try It!

I haven't been able to stop thinking about Hein and Lorette's hysterical challenge since it happened in last week's episode.

To recap - just in case you missed it - they each have to count 30 seconds backwards while Mark takes the actual time on a stopwatch and the person who finishes their countdown the closest to 30 seconds will win staying in the game.

The thing that's so crazy about it is that I just don't understand how they're gonna manage to get through counting down without panicking about whether or not they're going to slowly or too quickly and then forget where they are.

I thought it would be fun to give it a try to see what it's like before it happens so I'm sitting here with a stopwatch - got it as a pressie and never used it - and I'm going to give it a bash to see how well I do.

I haven't tried it yet so it's gonna be a first time attempt. Okay - oooh I'm quite nervous suddenly ...

Right ... I'm starting ... *taking a quick sip of tea for sustenance* ...NOW!

....

52 seconds!!!! 00.52.13 to be exact. Noooo - it's too ridiculous!!!

I started counting sort of semi-aloud until I got confused at about 18 - I think I left 16 out - and then I counted in my head, which obviously didn't speed it up at all. I concentrated so hard on not thinking about whether or not I was going to slowly or too quickly I obviously lost all sense of time!

You SO have to try it and see how you do. Here's an online stopwatch for you: Stopwatch.

You'll have to hover your mouse over it once you've started, close your eyes and click stop when you're finished.

So, so, - spill it.

Agree with the majority here, I reckon Lorette is going to take it.

and i counted the 1 one thousand 2 one thousand way.......
I can only imagine that the pressure will be multiplied by 100 in the game, so methinks they'll both be far off - with LORETTE Staying.

40 Seconds.  Yikes.  Thought I'd have done better than that!

Okay I took the test twice, first counting 1 to 30 and I was hopelessly too fast, got in  at 00:21.844, the second time around I counted from 30 backwards and did much better at 00:30.500.

I'm hoping Hein takes this one.

I don't understand this stupid challenge .... it's got absolutely NOTHING to do with surviving ..... it's a test of who can count to 30 under pressure .... again, WTF!

31.202 :) Do you guys start when you say 'thirty' and stop when you say 'zero'? that's what I did.

Luke

I went the other way Fin - counted from zero upwards. :) I think it's a great tie-breaker - much better than pulling coloured rocks.

Hmmmm... Except they'll be counting in Afrikaans...

Een en Twintag?  Twee en Twintag...  Crikey Moses.

What if the one gets to 31 and the other to 29 what would happen then as they both are nearest to 30? ;-) I'm rooting for Hein - hope he wins, but I also think that Lorette might take it.
