On Idols last night:
From the press release:
After the glamour of their performances this weekend it was quite a comedown for the Idols contestants last night (22 October) as they had to bid Caroline Borole farewell.
To start off the Results show and get a feel for the lay of the land, Colin revealed the results of the nationwide roundup of some of the country’s DJ’s:
94.5 KFM’s Richard Hardiman thought Yolanda Nabo’s time was up;
Damon Beard from East Coast Radio said Caroline had to leave the competition;
From Central South Africa’s OFM came the vote for Caroline, via Lindsay Batteson, co-host of The Sound Express;
Pabi Moloi from Yfm thought Munro’s cheesy performance of “Sweet Caroline” was too much and he had to go;
Jacaranda 94.2 FM’s Maurice Carpede said it was Daniel’s turn to go home;
And Selwyn Willis from Algoa FM agreed that Daniel should leave.
In a turn-up for the books, the judges’ combined votes put Caroline, Daniel and Jody in their bottom three. Then it was time to calculate the influence of the viewers’ votes. After a tense commercial break, Colin revealed that Jody was safe. That left Caroline and a very nervous Daniel. Then Colin revealed that Caroline had garnered the fewest judges’ votes, and that Daniel had received enough public support to survive one more week. “I didn’t think I would get this far,” Caroline admitted. “It’s been a ride.”
Sad as they are about losing Caroline, it’s back to work for the Top 8 as they prepare their songs for the Top 8 Spectacular at the Ellispark Arena on Friday (26 October). The musical theme for this weekend is Rock.
