Grey's Anatomy Season 3 Finale, "Didn't We Almost Have It All"

The ending song in last night's Season Finale of Grey's Anatomy was rather fitting. It was Ingrid Michaelson- Keep Breathing and the words are so true for the Grey's characters and thier lives. Ironically the song was used for the M-Net Grey's  Finale Trailer which can be found here.

The episode picks up directly after where the previous episode, "Testing 1-2-3" leaves us the previous week, and althought I was a bit confused at the beginning, I realised the episode keeps flashing forward towards the end when Chief Richard Webber announces the Chief Resident- which surprise surprise- it's Callie Torres-O'Malley.

So this is what basically went down with the people of Seattle Grace Hospital last night...

Cristina and Meredith

(Meredith is wrapped up in a toliet paper wedding dress while Callie writing Cristina's vows on her hand)
Cristina: You know, I thought I was gonna hate this party game thing, but it's kinda great. Can we set her on fire after?
Meredith: No, we cannot.
Callie: Hey, these wedding vows are not all gonna fit on here.
Cristina: Write smaller.
Callie: Hold still please, 'vow' just became 'cow'.
Izzie: You don’t need vows on your hand. When you get up there, just speak from the heart.
Cristina: Izzie, the heart is an organ. It pumps, circulates blood, and gets clogged from time to time. It does not, however, speak. It doesn’t have tiny little lips on it.
Izzie: Well, you’re all glass totally empty.
Cristina: I’m gonna like getting married. It’s the wedding part that’s ridiculous. (they all get paged)
Izzie: Party's over.
Cristina: Hey, mine didn't go off. Piece of crap.
Meredith: You can do this, right?
Cristina: Become a piece of chattle, sure looking foward to it. (Cristina starts helping Meredith unravel the toliet paper wedding dress)
Meredith: No matter what, you’re walking down that aisle today. I need you to go down that aisle.
Cristina: Is the toilet paper cutting off your circulation?
Meredith: You and Burke, it’s a sign. It’s a sign that people like you and me can do this. Be healthy, be happy. You marrying Burke restores my faith in me.
Cristina (sarcastic): Oohhh, I get it! My wedding’s about you.
Meredith: Yes.

Meredith

Cristina: Meredith...
Meredith: Ohh, you are not gonna believe... Derek met a girl, in a bar, and he flirted with her. And he told me. You know, no big deal, just thought I should know...
Cristina: Meredith...
Meredith: I´m not exaggerating. He didn't even hint. He just told me.
Cristina: Meredith, you know how sometimes it´s about you and sometimes it´s about me? This is really, really about me...
Meredith (turns around to see that Cristina has no eyebrows): Whoa!
Cristina: Momma took my eyebrows. She took my eyebrows and now I am a Burke!

What annoys me the most really is Meredith's inconsistency... Testing 1-2-3 is said to be the day before this episode takes place and infact, when the finale picks up, it picks up on the same day, just later that night. Meredith's character was written with no real consistency between the two episodes. They built her up to be this emotional wreck completely out of it, and they just forgot about it and let her wallow back to her pathetic life of Derek and thinking everything's about her.

Meredith's walk of Shame

So no, essentially Meredith didn't have it all. After a real crap first year of internship-

• She sleeps with a man she meets a bar, who turns out to be Derek Shepard
• She falls in love with him
• Later she finds out he has a wife
• The wife- Addison is hotter and better than her
• Addison gets her dog
• Her dog dies
• Addison gets her man
• She dates a vet
• She gets back with Derek
• Her mother becomes Lucid from Alzheimer’s
• Her mother dies from this after telling her how crap she is
• Meredith falls in water
• Meredith nearly dies
• Meredith goes to purgatory
• Derek becomes distant towards her
• Her relationship with her father and step mother is strained
• She’s accused of killing her step-mother, Susan
• Thatcher beats her- verbally and physically (was a slap)
• She is disowned by her family
• She doesn’t write her intern exams the first time
• She’s a walking wreck

I'm sure more has happened to Meredith, but I dont want to turn this into a Meredith centred thing like she usually does with everything else.

For the last few weeks, Merder has been very distant, I couldn't figure out whether they had broken up or not... but seems they kind of together, because last night they were about to break up. They actually quite confusing.

Meredith: Hey.
Derek: I have a surgery.
Meredith: I heard you are the best man.
Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: Well... maid of honor, best man, kind of perfect...
Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: I know I haven't been myself lately, but I am me again, so I was thinking maybe you should sleep over, because the me that I am is horny for the you that you are.
Derek: I met a woman last night. (they stop walking)
Meredith: You met a woman last night?
Derek: At Joe´s. Nothing happened. She was pretty, I noticed, and we talked.
Meredith: You met a woman last night.
Derek: Yeah.
Meredith: So, should I be worried or something?
Derek: Should you be worried that I met a woman? No. Should you be worried that for me flirting with that woman was the highlight of my week? Yes, you should be worried or something... (Derek walks away and Meredith stands there looking at him)

Derek meets a young girl at the bar and she 'flirts' with him (essentially all she asks is that she buys him a drink becuase she's had a bad day). Derek rejects polietly, but tells Meredith about this and tells Meredith that that was the highlight of his week- and she should be worried.

So Meredith, whose just about everything has been shattered, needs a sign of hope that Happily Ever After does exist, and looks for this in Cristina and Burke's Wedding which she kind of makes her own.

Meredith and Derek

Meredith: If you wanna break up with me so you can see other women, just do it! Don't tell me you met another woman. Just end it, if that's what you want.
Derek: I can't...
Meredith: Sure you can, here's how it goes: "Meredith, I don't wanna see you anymore. Meredith, I don't love you anymore."
Derek: Meredith, I do love you, don't you see? Don't you understand? You're the love of my life. I can't leave you, but you are constantly leaving me. You walk away when you want, you come back when you want. Not everyone, not your friends. You leave me. So I'm asking you... if you don't see a future for us, if you're not in this, please, please, just end it because I can't. I'm in it. Put me out of my misery.
Meredith: I... I can't. I... I... Cristina is getting married. I have to go make sure she gets married.
Derek: Meredith?
Meredith: I really need to make sure she gets down that aisle.
Derek: Let's go, we're running late.

Meredith and Derek don't really break it off, but things are left in the hanging with them. When Cristina's wedding fails, Meredith sees that Happily Ever After doesn't exist, and although nothing was said, when Meredith told everyone the Wedding was off, "It's over," you could sense she was talking about her and Derek and see Derek's facial expression, that he knew it was over too.

Meredith and Cristina
Cristina accidently scrubbed the vows off her hand!

Meredith: Do you remember your vows?
Cristina: Yeah, I wrote them on my... (looks at her hand) Oh, my God, I scrubbed in and the vows were on my hand... I scrubbed off my vows.
Meredith: Oh, okay...um...
Cristina (panicking): Okay, hello, I scrubbed off my vows! I-- I can't do this. I don't-- I don't have anything on my hand! There are no words in my head, I have no vows, no vows!
Meredith: It´s okay, it´s going to be ok...
Cristina: You now what? Stop saying that! Will you say something else?
Meredith: Like what?
Cristina: Say something that is gonna help me!
Meredith: Okay! Okay! I...
Cristina: Meredith! Please, you know what? Say something... Say.. I don´t know, I don't know what, say... say... Ok. Say what I would say to you if you were me...
Meredith: Okay!
Cristina: Good.
Meredith: Got it!
Cristina: Good, go.
Meredith: Stop whining! This is your wedding day, you will go down that aisle and you will get married! If I have to kick your ass every step of the way to get you there... you will walk down the aisle, you will get married. Do you hear me, Cristina? We need this! We need you to get your happy ending...
Cristina: Okay, I´m ready.
Izzie: Alright then.

Cristina and Burke

Addison: You nervous?
Burke: No, not really. More excited. Well, except about my vows. I wrote them myself. And I don’t know. They may be too…I want them to be right.
Addison: Well, let’s hear ‘em.
Burke: Now?
Addison: You got a room full of women. Try 'em out on us.
Burke (after a pause): Cristina, I could promise...to hold you, and to cherish you. I can promise to be there in sickness and in health. I could say, ‘til death do us part. But I won’t. Those vows are for optimistic couples. The ones full of hope. And I do not stand here, on my wedding day, optimistic or full of hope.
Addison: Okay, umm...
Burke: I am not optimistic. I am not hopeful. I am sure. I am steady. And I know... that I’m a heart man. I take it apart, I put ‘em together, I hold them in my hands. I am a heart man. So this, I am sure: you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend. My heart, my heart, beats for you. And on this day, the day of our wedding, I promise you this: I promise you to lay my heart in the palm of your hands. I promise you me. (Addison sighs) Too trite? Because I can rewrite it...
Izzie (teary-eyed): No. No, it’s...
Addison: I think I speak for every woman in this room when I say, dump her. Dump Yang and marry me. (everyone laughs)

Sure over the course of the season, Cristina has given Burke some reasons to doubt her comittment towards him and her wedding, but his reasons for calling off the Wedding was unjustified essentially. Sure we know  Grey's needed to get rid of Isiah Washington because of the backstage drama with him and T.R. Knight, but I felt kind of cheated in his reasons for leaving.

Cristina made a lot of sacrafises for Burke and his mother, she wore the dress she wanted, that dog collar thing they wear and she damn had her eyebrows shaved, which was hilarious. I dont know how they managed to talk Sandra Oh into doing that! She looked so alien like!

Cristina: I’m ready, I’m fine. Meredith talked me down. Go, go, go, I’ll be right behind you.
Burke: I’m sorry.
Cristina: Oh, no, I can do this. I had a momentary freakout, but now I’m fine. I can do this.
Burke: But you don’t want to do this. I’m up there waiting for you to come down the aisle, and I know you don’t want to come. I know you don’t want to come but that you’ll come anyway because you love me. And if I loved you, if I loved you, not the woman that I’m trying to make you be, not the woman that I hope you’ll become, but you…if I did, I wouldn’t be up there waiting for you. I would be letting you go.
Cristina (shocked): I am wearing the dress. I am ready. And maybe I didn’t want to before, but I want to now. I really think I want this!
Burke: I really wish that you didn’t think. I wish that you knew.

The end of the road

Loved that Cristina needed to scrub in and cut thing to feel like herself again, in a sense Burke and her wouldn't really last long because married Cristina didnt really fit well with Surgeon Cristina.. It was however really sad to see her little outbreak at the end when Meredith had to help her take her dress off... Ironically last Season Finale, Meredith help to help Izzie take her Prom dress off..

Cristina: He’s gone.
Meredith: I – I don’t think he’s gone. His stuff is still here.
Cristina: No. His trumpet was here. His entire Eugene Foot collection, vinyls and CDs. His grandmother’s picture was by the bed. His lucky scrub cap was hanging on the door. He’s gone. I’m – I’m free. (she starts crying) Damn it. Damn it, damn it, damn it! (gasping, she grabs at the chocker necklace) Oh god, take this off! Take it off, take it off!
Meredith: Stand still, just for a minute. (Cristina indicates the dress) I’ll get scissors.
Cristina: Help me, help me! (Meredith cuts the wedding dress off and holds Cristina, who is sobbing uncontrollably)

Burke walking out

So Burke's packed his stuff and left, and along with Addison, Seattle Grace has lost two brilliant surgeons. Maybe Burke will be joining Addion down in L.A. for his own little Private Practice.. well maybe not.

Meredith: It’s over. You can all go home now. It’s over. So over.

The Race For Chief
This storyline went on way to long throught the season and really wasn't done quite properly. Firstly, Callie is announced to be Chief Resident, and it was done so quietly, and no one really showed any reaction towards it, except for Bailey.

I feel so bad for Baiely, because she deserved that job, it had her name all over it... I love Callie and everything, but do not understand what she did that could Merit her being Chief... except in "Testing 1-2-3" when she performed three surgies at once by srubbing in one after another. Besides that, Callie has never really stood out as a suitable candidate for me. Furthermore, they failed to show us the Chief speaking to Callie and giving her the position. I did however suspect that Callie could be Chief when Mark commented that she too is in the running, both myself and Bailey overlooked this and this was quite a shock.

Another twist in the events was Derek was offered the position but turned it down? Did I see right or did I misunderstand the whole situation? The reason MerDer became do distant to each other was because Derek realised that Meredith got in his way to becoming Chief and complicated things for him, which is why he almost broke things off with her. Then he is still with Meredith and gets the job, but he turns it down?! I was so confused... Yea that little reason he gave the Chief about why he turned it down, didnt even make much sense either, something about him needing to learn form his mistakes.

(In the Chief's office)
Chief: Congratulations, you'll make a fine chief... Derek?
Derek: I'm not the best man for this job. You're the best man for this job.
Chief: What are you talking about, Derek?
Derek: A good chief learns from his mistakes. I'm still working on that, but you... If you had a chance to do it all over again, you'd do it differently. Go ahead. Do it all over again. You're the best man.

Failed Chief Candidates

Burke: You okay?
Derek: Fine. You need anything? A mint? A getaway car?
Burke (smiles): If it's the chief thing, don't worry about it. You deserve it.
Derek: Richard didn't pick me to be chief.
Burke: We all assumed... Well, who did he pick?
Derek: I don't know, it wasn't me.
Burke (pause): You really don't... look so good.
Derek: Meredith and I, we might not make it. I think I want it more than she does. But, today's your day, it's all about you today.
Burke: You really are a good best man.
Derek: I try.

Derek: You're a lucky man, Burke. Cristina's great. She's there, she's sure, she's willing to commit. You're a lucky man.
Burke: And you're not?
Mark (walks in, to Burke): There he is! T minus five hours. And how’s the best man, up to the challenge? I was an excellent best man.
Derek: Worst case scenario, I sleep with your wife in ten years.

Poor Addison, we can see what finally drives her out of Seattle Grace and back down to Ocean Wellness Centre in L.A. and into Private Practice. Which by the way I must say, through the entire 70minutes of Grey's, M-Net kept advertising that we must keep watching for an exclusive preview of Private Practice. They kept going on about it, I actually sat and waited for the ad.

Addison: I don't understand.
Richard: It's not you.
Addison: No, I understand that part. What I don't understand is why. I need this job, Richard. I need it more than the others.
Richard: Addison...
Addison: No, I need a reason to stay here. I need a reason to get up every morning. I need to get up and not care if it's raining or that I'm 39 and alone.
Richard: That's why. If you need a job to give a new life you even need a new job or a new life.

We all knew Addison wasn't getting the job, although it would have been really nice and held her down in Seattle Grace, I think she was deserving of it, especially being the best Neonatal Surgeon as refrenced to before.

Chief: It's probably unfair, but I hold you to a higher standard. And you let me down this year, Preston. After you got shot, the tremor. This job is about making the tough calls. Sometimes the toughest call you can make is admitting when you're in over your head. You don't do that. You know a lot, Preston. You're one of the best surgeons that I know... One of the best men. But, you're not perfect, you don't know everything. I wanna give you the job, I want to... but I can't. (Burke gets up) Preston...
Burke: I have a wedding to get to. (leaves)

Burke clearly wasn't getting the position and that really made packing up and leaving quite easily, especially since he was promised in "From a Whisper To A Scream" before the Chief found out about his deceptive tremor. That was the main reason which prevented him from being Chief, and I'm sure he would have been a great Chief, probally even better than Derek might I say?

The intergration of the announcement of whose Chief was confusing... it was only really at the end that I realised that the episode that they were flashing forward to Richard talking to all the candidates (some like Mark and Bailey who were skipped).

George and Izzy
Izzy always had that sad look in her eyes while George always looked so lost.

Izzie, George and Callie

(Izzie walks into the locker room, where George is getting dressed for the wedding and stands in front of him)
George: What?
Izzie: Ah, hold on a minute. Just wanna make sure no one is around so I can say this.
George: We said everything we needed to say...
Izzie: Shut up. (she grabes his tie and starts tying his tie for him) I am an optimist. I am hopeful. I am not sure...
George: Look, I can do this myself.
Izzie: Let me speak. Because I'm your best friend and because I love you, if what you want is to be with Callie, then I would do anything in my power to support you and help you make your marriage work. And because I'm your best friend and because I love you, I also have to say... that I'm in love with you... I'm in love with you. I can't promise a future, I can't promise perfection because we're us and I'm me, and who knows what would happen. But in my heart, I'm sure. I'm in love with you, George, and I hope you're in love with me too... Say something... (everyone comes rushing in the door to get ready for the wedding)

Callie definetly knows something was up between George and Izzie after last week's episode, but this week failed to have a confrontation. I was expecting some big conclusion towards this storyline like either Grizzie being outed, or Callie leaving George. Nothing really happened except for the fact that Izzie admitted she loved George, and before he could say anything back, we were left hanging. But we know he doesn't love her that much if he could go up to Callie and willingly say his willing to try have a baby, which when Callie told Izzie (probally her way of saying, "back off bitch, his mine), Izzie's fake smile was classic, but we all know Callie knows something's up between George and Izzie.

Izzie: Did you see George in there? I didn't see him.
Callie: He's probably gonna be late. We sorta had a big emotional day.
Izzie: Oh, really? Did-- Did something happen between you two? I mean...
Callie: No, it's just that I was named Chief Resident.
Izzie: Oh.
Callie: And plus, we decided to have a baby.
Izzie (shocked): A baby?
Callie: Yeah, we're trying. We tried today in fact.
Izzie: Wow.
Callie: Yeah... big day.

Callie and Izzie

Oh and speaking of George, he failed. Yes, George O'Malley failed his first year Intern Exams and according to Bailey has two choices, he can leave or start again; and it looks like his starting again. I do not understand how George can fail with Callie as his wife, surely that could have helped him enormously!

Chief and Adele
Last week Adele came to Seattle Grace Hospital and saw Addison, announcing that she's pregnant at 52. Addison was told to not tell the Chief she was in the hospital or pregnant. Last night she had a miscarriage and lost the baby- partially due to the fact that she didnt even look pregnant to me, so I assumed that she was in her early stages of the pregnancy. Then we learrn from Adele that Richard is in deed the father.

Chief and Adele with her Pregnancy

Now Richard last saw Adele a few episodes back and she was with another man, I cannot think of another time this season they were "togehter", except he saw her earlier in the season in the first few episodes when she told him to quit. So how is it possible that Richard was the father of Adele's unborn baby, and if so, it had to be in the latest stages of the pregnancy and didnt look like that.

Chief: Oh, I thought... I thought... for a second I'd lost you for a minute. (pauses) Um, do you wanna call somebody, or maybe I could...
Adele: No, no one.
Chief: Well, the father of the baby, maybe you wanna...
Adele: He doesn’t even know about it, I didn’t even tell him. I, uh, I think I misjudged him. I thought he’d go running for the hills, but he’s a much better man than I thought. He’ll get over his initial judgments and he’ll sit with you and he’ll make you drink your water...(Chief realizes it's him)
Chief: Adele...
Adele: It was a boy.

Ava and Alex
Undeniably there was this unspoken but felt special connection and relationship between these two and I can only imagine the writers didnt bring on this character for about 10 episodes to have no strong reason too. It was undeniably going to be probally be a Alex/Addison/Ava storyline, and right up and until "Desire" when Addison and Alex had sex in the store room, it felt that way. And there we thought it was only Addison who didn't know what she wanted, but turns out it was Alex too... He knew he liked Ava, but when the time came in the finale, when she wanted him to give her a reason to stay, he was unable to, and then fled back to Addsion who got her groove back by rejecting him this time around.

Ava: I like the suit. The suit is way better than the scrubs.
Alex: Thanks. Hey! I passed my intern exam.
Ava: Good! That´s good!
Alex: Yeah.
Ava: Got discharged. Me and the baby.
Alex: Oh, come on! You just- you just had brain surgery, you´re still on antibiotics...
Ava: My body´s been signed off on by plastics, cardio, orthopedics, neuro and OB. And- And also my teeth got the blessing from, wait I can say this, prosthodontics.
Alex: Yeah, but there´s still your memory...
Ava: You know how I know my memory is fine? Because I can say prosthodontics.
Alex: Yeah, but the baby...
Ava: Discharged. By peds.
Alex: Yeah, but...
Ava (closes the door): I have every reason to go, and -- and -- and yeah, I´m scared, and yeah this is moving at warp speed, and yeah I´m freaking out, but Jeff is good, and Jeff is the father of my child, the man is out buying a car seat right now, and the minute he gets back... I have every reason to go, because medically there´s no need for me to stay... medically....
Alex: Oh, yeah, okay, then I´ll just check the chart, we´ll see what...
Ava: Damn it!
Alex: What?
Ava: Are you... do I have to spell everything out for you? Did you sniff too much glue as a child? I´m asking you something here!
Alex: What do you want from me?
Ava: I- I want you to give me a reason to stay, a real reason... Jeff is a decent guy, good decent guy, but to him I´m Rebecca and I don´t know if I am Rebecca anymore... you know me, you knew when I couldn´t even speak who I was. You named me Ava and I was more me as Ava, than I´ll ever be as Rebecca... Look I have every reason to go back to my life and I will, unless you... Alex, I´m asking you to give me a reason to stay here, a reason from you...
Alex: Jeff loves you, he is a decent guy...
Ava: Alex give me a reason...
Alex (walks over to her): I think you should stick with the decent guy... (Alex leaves and Ava stays in her room crying)

Alex and Addison, they actually made a great couple.
Alex and Addison would have actually made quite a good couple if Addison stuck around!

Addison: I always found it confusing. If you know both the bride and the groom whose side do you sit on?
Alex: I just look for the hottest chick in the room and sit next to her.
Addison: Stop.
Alex: Wanna ditch the reception, grab a drink instead?
Addison: Stop it! You don’t want me.
Alex: Maybe I do.
Addison: No you don’t. You want Ava.
Alex: She’s not Ava anymore, she’s Rebecca now and I barely know her.
Addison: Look at me. Look at me! You suck. To me, you suck. I kind of…hate you. But Alex, we do not get unlimited chances to have the things we want. And this I know. Nothing is worse than missing an opportunity that could have changed your life. And no matter what her name is, she’ll always be Ava to you.

Alex then rushed back the hospital after the Wedding, but alas he was too late, Ava/Rebecca was gone. Oh wait, yes- Hospital records... Yea maybe he should find her and declare his love for her.

Or if not, join Addison down in Private Practice, it could always use familiar cast members from Grey's.

Anyways this episode wasn't really what I expected, I must say the M-Net ad made it seem extremely dramatic, it was alright, but things did happen the way I expected it too...

The episode was 10 minutes longer than the standard time for Grey's episodes, the only other time this has happeend was 3x09 From A Whisper To A Scream where it was 7 minutes longer.

Now onto bigger things, M-Net's publicised that Grey's is returning sooner than you think and February is a great time to bring the show back, of course there will be once face that will return to our screens before. The Private Practice preview was great, felt more like a Grey's Ad and there was lots of scenes from "The Other Side of Life, Part 1 & Part 2" which was alright, but we would have loved to see some new Private Practice stuff...

So there's a new batch of interns, and none of them look sex-driven thank god, and it turns out one of them is Lexie Grey, Meredith's half sister! Oh my, another Grey, and its the same women from the bar that Derek met... Is History repeating itself or are the writers bored?! I really dont hope this new Grey sister isnt a threat to MerDer and I hope we dont spend Season 4 following Lexie's life with her intern friends.

Lexie: Hey.
George: Hey.
Lexie: We’re the new interns.
George: Yeah.
Lexie: Well you look seasoned and wise. Got any advice?
George: No. (as an afterthought) Learn how to do an appendectomy start to finish before you first day.
Lexie: Okay. (noticing George’s empty locker) You’re leaving?
George: Yeah.
Lexie: Better offer?
George: Just ah, you know? Life.
Lexie: Yeah. Anyways, good luck with…life, Dr...
George: My name is George.
Lexie: My name is Lexie. Lexie Grey.

Things are going to be very different next season though, without Burke or Addison and just to get you in the mood, here's a  Grey's Promo Pic to keep you going til February.

So since the episode was called, "Didn't We Almost Have It All?", Lets see whether they did or not:

Meredith: Yup, she had it, she lost it, and she's currently loosing it all.
Cristina: Just lost her husband, in the long run, she'll be fine, she's still a brillaint surgeon
Derek: Its gonna get hard without Addison or Meredith, and now your best friend Burke is gone. Derek's lost it all.
Mark: No Addison. His lost it all. Was he even in this episode?
Bailey: I think Bailey really got knocked down hard this time, and with George (her fav) failing, she really is gonna feel so bad, she's lost some of it.
Alex: Goodbye Addison and Ava?! Lost it all.
Izzie: She didn't really have it all to begin with, just false hope.
Richard Webber: Seems like he might get it all with Adele's miscarriage bringing them closer.
George: He had it all, and he pushed it all away, his going to find himself in a horrible position now..
Addison: She had it all now she's going onto better things!

And some other quotes from the episode:

(they are all getting ready for the wedding)
Alex: Does anyone have any deodorant?
Cristina: Uh, you're not putting my deodorant on your hairy armpits.
Izzie (penciling in Cristina's eyebrows): Uh, don't move or you're gonna have a unibrow. And there's some in my locker.
George (indicating his jacket): Closed? Open?
Meredith: Closed. You look dashing.
Izzie: You look great.

Bailey: One cut, and then your gone. One. (Cristina makes the cut)
Meredith: We gotta go now, Cristina. (Cristina is still holding the scalpel)
Bailey: Grey...
Meredith: Put the scalpel down, Cristina.

Meredith: Dr. Bailey.
Bailey: Yeah, what?
Meredith: Cristina needs to cut something. I can't really explain it in a way that won't make you glare but... they took her eyebrows and they called her a Burke. She really needs to cut something.
Bailey: Yang, go... do getting married things. Get outta this hospital.
Cristina: Hey! (Meredith looks scared at her outburst, Bailey glares) I mean... (nicely) Hey. I... I -- You have to let me cut because I am standing here, eyebrowless, with no diginity left. I am a surgeon, Dr. Bailey. But right now I don't feel like one, I feel like -- like somebody else. Do you know what that's like to not feel like yourself?
Bailey (softly): Yeah.

Bailey: Okay, listen up. O'Malley, you're with Shepherd and Sloan, Stevens you're with Burke and Karev you're with Addison, go. (the three of them leave) Grey, you're with the chief's wife.
Meredith: The chief's wife?
Bailey: Is pregnant. Yes, I did say pregnant. (Meredith looks shocked) I recommend that you loose the shocked look and try for something a little more... dignified. Go. (Meredith leaves)
Cristina: Who am I on?
Bailey: Uh, I didn't page you. Go home and get some sleep.
Cristina: Yeah, but I'm here already, so...
Bailey: You're getting married in less than 12 hours.
Cristina: Well, uh, Burke's getting married too and he gets to operate.
Bailey: There's only one Preston Burke.
Cristina: There's only one Cristina Yang.
Bailey: I've given you the day off, the whole day. It's a kindness, take it. It's your wedding day. There will always be more surgeries.
Cristina: But...
Bailey: Really? What would you rather be doing prepping a patient or prepping for your wedding? Go home.

Cristina: Did you pass?
Meredith: You bet your married booty I did.

Richard (voiceover): Being Chief is about responsibility. Every single surgical patient in the hospital is your patient, whether you’re the one who cut them open or not. The scalpel stops with you. You need to be able to look at a family, and tell them your team did everything they could to save someone’s child, their husband, their wife. You get caught up taking care of other people’s families, and the responsibility, it makes you... You take care of other people’s families, and you sacrifice your own.

Great recap, Charmed!  I think you were confused about the job thing, so here's clarification.  There were actually 2 jobs up for grabs: Chief Resident, who's just in charge of all the residents (that's Callie, Bailey, and now all the ex-interns except George), and Chief of the Hospital, who's in charge of the whole damn hospital.  Bailey thought she'd get Chief Resident, but Richard gave it to Callie, for reasons that will become clear next season.  As for Hospital Chief, Richard offered it to Derek, but Derek turned it down and told Richard to try being Chief again...which is what Richard does next season.

As for Adele's pregnancy, remember that only about 3-4 months have passed since the finale in Season 2 (Prom Night, which would be late April or May) and this finale (end of Year 1, so probably August), so it's not unreasonable that Adele could be pregnant by Richard but not show it yet, I think; bigger women show it less, I think.  (BTW, it's kinda ridiculous that Izzy went from crazy in love with Denny to crazy in love with George in that time frame, huh?)

And I think George failed the intern exam because he was so focused on Meredith during it, which kinda sucks because she got to retake it and he didn't!

i know it sounds weird... but Izzie and alex are my faves
i sort if relate a lot to them....
and i truly loved it when they were doing their thing everywhere (in the closet as well), i'm hoping they can go back there...

I didnt watch much of this season, so i didnt get to see Montgomery-Shepherd and Alex together... i'm not convinced though, if they're compatible...

Burke dropping Yang like that, Gawd it hurts...

gotta go

I’m hoping they will forgive Burke for calling George a F*G and bring him back if there is a season 5.

>>remember that only about 3-4 months have passed since the finale in Season 2 <<

Lingo, I remember that... and your right about the Izzie/George/Denny time frame... However what I don't get is Mark and Addison in the latter episodes of the Season had a 60 day no sex rule, an episode or two later, it was 28 days left, so if time could move that quick within those episodes, then maybe its Season 3 is more than 4 months... but your right that S1 - now is a year for the interns, just a bit confusing...

Thanks for the recap CD, some heart warming moments in this final episode.

Lingo, thanks for clearing up the whole Chief Resident and Chief thingie, I understood it like that as well because Bailey was the only who was really troubled by Callie getting that Chief Resident job and at the end, Derek was turning down the job to give the Richard the chance to be Chief and to learn from the mistakes of the past, meaning to put his relationship with Adelle first and his patients/hospital second.

Glad to see GA will be back so soon and I can't wait for PP, seeing Addison dancing naked while Taye Diggs is watching.....

>>What annoys me the most really is Meredith's inconsistency... Testing 1-2-3 is said to be the day before this episode takes place and infact, when the finale picks up, it picks up on the same day, just later that night. Meredith's character was written with no real consistency between the two episodes. They built her up to be this emotional wreck completely out of it, and they just forgot about it and let her wallow back to her pathetic life of Derek and thinking everything's about her.<<

True dat. I tend to ignore Meredith and her issues most of the time so this slipped my notice but her transition from emotionally devastated to me me me is incredibly jarring.

I said it before and I'll say it again. I just can't trust a doctor called Lexie.

I agree the Burke thing was out-of-character and didn't particularly make sense even if they did have to write his character out. Of all the male characters in the show, Burke (along with the Chief) is the one I can least see just up and going after jilting his fiancee at the altar.

Sooo...nekkid dancing Addison, you say?
