Thabiso Lebuka,
Kim McCusker,
Elizma Wildschutte and
Ashley Searle are South Africa’s favourite dancers - and now it's up to viewers to ensure their most firm fave triumphs in the
So You So You Can Dance Grand Finale coming up this Saturday (1 November).
The decision was reached in last nights final Results Show that saw contenders
Bathembu Myira and
Marise Dusheiko dance their final dance before being eliminated.
The Results Show opened with the Top 6 hearing that Elizma and Ash were safe with a secured spot in the Top 4. Marise, Thabiso, Kim and Bathembu each ripped, whirled and screamed for their lives and then faced the final firing line.
Head judge
Harold van Buuren re-re-reiterrated that the dancers are only as good as their last dance, criticised Marise for having stiff ballroom legs and complimented Thabiso for finding his inner animal.
After assessing all four dancers he announced that the decision was uninamous amongst the judges and that small packages of dynamite Marise and Bathembu would be detonated together.
Marise shed a tear, thanked everyone involved with the show and made a plea for a job and Bathembu thanked his grandmother and told SA to support everyone in the world except himself.
The victorious four watched the goodbyes, looking a conflicted sad/super-relieved and will now put all their gusto into preparing for Saturdays showdown.
The one-and-a-half hour Special starts an half-hour earlier than usual - at
18h00. The foursome will dance for their lives in front of all five judges from the season - as per, Harold will be Head judge and will be joined by regular judge
David Matamela as well as
Didi Moses,
Adele Blank and
Debbie "one naked shoulder" Rakusin.
The show will open with a group number and then each of the four will dance solo. They will also have a final chance to dance with each other - here's what they'll be dancing:
Elizma and Ash - Afro Fusion
Kim and Thabiso - Pantsula
Kim and Ash - Jive
Elizma and Thabiso - Hip Hop
All the Top 20 finalists will be in the action too, dancing a special group number. Adding to the night will be a performance by award winning South African R&B superstar Loyiso.
Further hot dance talent will be in the spotlight when Duane and Jed Lawrence show the moves that have seen them perform alongside Beyonce , 50 Cent, Mario, Snoop Dogg and Kanye West. The two are the current South African B-Boy Champions having recently snatched the title from France’s renowned Pokemon crew.
Each of the judges will give their responses to the finalists but, in the end, it's the South African public who'll make the final decision. Viewers are now voting for their favourite dancer and NOT their favourite couple.
Voting opened at the end of last night’s Results Show and will close towards the end of Saturday's show. Valued at R250 000, the final prize is made up of a Cherry car and the rest in cash.
Onwards to Mzansi's most favourite dancer taking the crown!
Ticket news: the Finale is open to the public with tickets costing R20,00 per person available from Computicket outlets as well as Shoprite/Checkers stores in Gauteng. No tickets will be available at the door.
