Muvhango actress
Kamogelo Mampe, who plays the role of Mukwevho Milling's receptionist Palesa, has decided not to renew her contract with the show so that she can "pursue other interests".
The character Palesa will still be on screen until early 2008, however, according to SABC2 Publicity. She has been with the show since 2004.
"Kamogelo is undoubtedly a woman of many talents", said Muvhango creator and executive producer Duma ka-Ndlovu. "She is a professional ballet dancer. Her background includes doing musicals and cabaret and she will go far in this industry."
Before taking up acting Mampe was an accomplished dancer in a variety of genres including ballet, traditional, Latin American and her true passion, ballroom dancing.
"It has always been a pleasure working with her," said Ndlovu. "We are confident that she will do well in her future endeavours; young as she is we believe that with her talent, the sky is the limit.
"We wish her all the best and will miss her," he concluded.
Aside from her long-running role on Muvhango, Mampe also played the minor role of Jacqui in the fifth short film of the 2006
Heartlines series, entitled "The Bet".
She made it into the Sunday tabloids earlier in 2007 when it was reported she had broken up with record producer Bongani Fassie, the son of legendary South African singer Brenda Fassie.
She subsequently dated Supersport United soccer star Siboniso Gaxa.
There is no word yet on what she plans to do next.
