This past Saturday (10 January 2009) a new eight part series Saving Soweto premiered on Al Jazeera English (DStv Channel 406).
The show goes behind-the-scenes of Chris Hani Baragwanath (or Bara as it's popularly known) - the largest hospital in the world.
Situated in Soweto, South Africa, the hospital occupies more than 173 acres with 3,200 beds and 6,670 staff members.
The film-makers received exclusive access to the hospital and spent a number of months gaining insight into it's workings and day-to-day operations.
The series features their resulting footage and includes interviews with members of the medical staff about how they deal with treating the 2000 patients who check in daily.
Each week's new episode flights at 00h30 on Saturdays - early on Saturday mornings - and repeats at the following times:
Saturdays at 09h30 and 21h00
Sundays at 03h30 and 14h30
Mondays at 08h30, 16h30 and 00h30
Tuesdays at 12h30
Thursdays at 05h30
