Themba Nofemele “says goodbye” to Muvhango while Siyabonga Twala enters in June – the same time that Themba leaves – TVSA can exclusively reveal.
Themba Nofemele, who has been playing Ranthumeng Mokoena for the past three years, will now only be a call actor with Muvhango and is set to make his “exit” as a permanent cast in June. Immediately when Themba leaves, the soapie will introduce veteran actor Siyabonga Twala in a brand new role.
Last week Drum magazine reported that Themba has been fired from the show alleging he has an ego and further alleged he has gotten bigger for the show. However, my source who is privy to the situation, tells me the Drum magazine story couldn’t be further from the truth when I asked when Themba will be filming his final scenes. “Themba isn’t fired at all so there would be no final scenes for him hence I say he is not fired. He drops out of storylines around June and that’s when Siyabonga enters. Themba does show up now and again,” says my source.
Many of you will have noticed Siyabonga is starring in the new Mzansi Magic telenovela Isibaya and are probably wondering if he will be keeping his Isibaya role.
I immediately did some digging and my sources privy to Isibaya information regarding his role told me he left the show. “He has already filmed his final scenes with the show. He is no longer with us,” says my sources. My Muvhango source tells me Siyabonga is ready to film with Muvhango. “He will start filming his scenes next week and viewers will be seeing him on the show around June like I said.”
I asked my sources if money played a major factor in Siyabonga leaving Isibaya to join Muvhango. “Let us not do a Khosi on this one okay! I cannot give you a comment about this. So, you just have to do the maths,” says my source.
Meanwhile, Thandaza has been shot in Muvhango in last night’s episode and Twitter immediately went crazy with tweeps asking if the show is coming to an end. If anything, TVSA can tell you the plan with the SABC is to have Muvhango air five days a week somewhere during the course of this year.
On the other hand, you will remember when Isidingo set caught fire at the SABC, Muvhango and Generations sets were affected and this resulted in Muvhango moving to Sasani studios which houses 7de Laan, Rhythm City, Scandal among other shows. Muvhango just moved back to Henley Studios at the SABC headquarters in Auckland Park, Johannesburg.
What are your thoughts on Ranthumeng leaving? And Siyabonga Twala entrance?
