Eish, where do I start, I survived yet another elimination and sadly I think if I end up in the bottom two again, I will be RoadKill……………
Sarah and I performed the Zorro Inspired Paso Doble which I understand from the many or the very few friends and followers we have, came out really great. But for some reason, despite our performance, we did not have enough votes to be saved from the bottom two.
We scored 28/40 points from the judges and got some great constructive criticism.
Tyrone - Over dramatization / over dancing therefore loosing the posture from time to time.
Lillian - No comment, not enough time to ask her opinion.
Salome - Said I could save her any day - Loved the performance
Dave - Sadly I can’t remember what he said, but I think he liked the performance.
Sarah and I really went back to the drawing board after our disappointing Tango and decided on a great theme and really brought it alive. I thoroughly enjoyed the “leopard crawls” in the beginning but boy did it hurt the knees - the aging process kinda almost denied us the maneouvre, but we managed.
Playing with the Cape was a great call from Sarah, I think this really won us the votes with the audience, viewers at home and especially the judges. Our walks were ok and I had to spin before pressing forward with my chest and presenting myself to Sarah all the while Shout and thrusting my thrust hips forward.
There was also a part in our routine where I had to “drown” her and then “save” her by jerking her up and pulling her into a pose, talk about dominance and over powering -…. this was just for Lillian…… WINK*
The rest of the routine was made up of Sashays which I must admit; I am not really a fan of. To round things up, I had to jump and turn into a backward lung and land on my knee. Am currently nursing my left knee and groin after landing hard and stretching the tendon.
We did not expect to be in the bottom two and we thought we could at least get into the Top 3.
Fact that we ended up going head-to-head with my brother Adil, really erked me, I honestly thought our performance last night was good enough to stay out of the bottom two, but this was not the case.
Is it because all the darkies in Mzanzi were watching Generations during our dance? Or perhaps, my SA Motorsport fraternities are not All voting - all but +/- 1300 competitors or so…… I don’t know!!!
Anyway, going into the dance-off meant that I would have to go through the pain barrier and really bring Zorro to life AGAIN!!!!!. My internal turbo and Super chargers kicked into EXTREME mode and I really danced for my life. AGAIN - Thankfully we survived.
I am going to miss Adil and Robyn. After their interview in the end, my brothers eyes swelled up with tears, but like the matador he was portraying, he really held them back. The Paso Doble was really not their thing.
At the afterparty, Adil revealed that he was on edge all day, and frankly was relying on someone FALLING during their routine (which I almost did walking down the stairs during rehearsal earlier in the day - which got Adil excited I hear….”Fall Zorro Fall!!!!!” so I’m told) or having a wardrobe malfunction (Cindy and Tessa - their dresses either got hooked on their heals or the “garden” rails on the stage).
Their dance had no passion and drama of the Paso Doble and I think this is the reason why they got such a low score. I guess its back to spinning the Top 40 vinyl’s and “Sorry Bagani Soooooorrrrrryyyyyyy” TV show and a whole lot more I understand. You guys will be missed. Robyn, your are darling!!!
Garth and Hayley - hmmm, Brother G called Hayley a “MY CHICKEN” all day due to her feathery dress which was shedding feathers all over the place giving the cleaning staff a headache of note!!!!!!
Their routine was great, and Brother G looked absolutely the part in the Penguin suit! Oh, he brought along a four legged friend to the Carlton yesturday….. but I will let you read more about this in his blog. What a GUY!!!!!! WINK*
Rob and Mary - they had their worst score to date, resulting in Rob releasing the tear ducks a little (not in full view of the compertition). The couple were rather stressed out throughout the day due to the pace. Our Energizer Bunny aka Rob wanted to run across the dance floor but Mary had to apply ABS brakes to slow things down.
I think Adil coined it last week by saying “… it would be interesting to see Rob going slow …” Regardless of this mishap, Rob and Mary still remain the favourites to win and in my books, they have what it takes ... I think we should just give them the SCD trophy right away and relieve everyone of the drama and tension which we experience every week come Monday - Thursday!!!
Anele and Brandon - did not have a good outing, her dress was definitely a BIG FASHION DISASTER and frankly the rather Vibrant Anele we have all come to know and love had gone AWOL.
Brandon tried to get things jiggy with it, but the dance, ankle and the pink number mixed with a rather subdued Anele just said Nah!!!!! The only time we saw Anele awake and her usual self was during Danny K and the Kids performance, especially when 1 HP did his rap!!!!!
Cindy and Jonathan - wow, what a huge comeback. I must say, this couple is the dark horse in the season. The Star Wars theme really worked for them and I must admit, Cindy aka Princess Laya - Rocked the house.
They were in character from the moment they came to the venue. Her dress/costume which I understand is designed by her (Cindy) and made but the rather gifted Kurt certainly made her stand out like an Eagle amongst Pigeons. Her looks are still mesmerizing Tyron and I too am hooked!!!!!
Khutso and Hlubi - apparently one of the judges said something about Hlubi’s gaping mouth, she looked awesome in the bright orange outfit and brother man Khutso who is missing his beautiful family, really made Hlubi look HOT!!!!.
Am puzzled about Hlubi’s sister’s comment about brother man being too slow and not really giving Hlubi the best possible passage to victory…. clearly there is something underlying here, their VT tends to be steamy with arguments and a little tear here and there, but then again, Khusto is a perfectionist and their dance was perfect.
Tessa and Grant - rocked the house again posting the high score. Time and determination really goes a long way, but a little fairy told me that Tessa is taking strain. The sister is so determined to win SCD, she is working herself to the bone.
This week, she apparently had a ‘speed wobble” with her health and had to take a day or two to recover. Thankfully she is back to full swing and galloping well to victory lane.
Next week we do the Samba. Sarah and I will practice as much as possible and bring it home next week and NOT make the bottom two!!! Competition is really getting tough and the change rooms are emptying pretty fast.
This weekend I will be campaigning for couple #6 at the Johannesburg International Motorshow and running the Soweto Marathon (10km segment) but more importantly will be practicing the Samba in between all this.
.... till next week, vote couple # 6 and save us from the Bottom 2.
