About the Show

Doctor Who Confidential is a television documentary series created by the British Broadcasting Corporation to complement the revival of the long-running British science fiction television series Doctor Who.

The series premiered in the UK on BBC Three on 26 March 2005, directly after the first episode of the new series. Each episode is broadcast in the UK on BBC Three immediately after the broadcast of the weekly television episode on BBC One.

The running time of the first two seasons was 30 minutes, being extended to 45 minutes in the third. BBC Three also broadcasts a cut-down edition of the programme, lasting 15 minutes, which is the only version available to South Africans.

The first season of Doctor Who Confidential originally aired in South Africa on DStv's BBC Prime channel at 19h45, from 1 September to 24 November, 2007, directly after the weekly episode (which also aired on BBC Prime, at 19h00).

A rebroadcast of the first season of Doctor Who premiered on BBC Prime on Sunday 8 June 2008, at 13h00. Episodes of Doctor Who Confidential follow the main episodes.

Double episodes of both Doctor Who and Doctor Who Confidential air back-to-back every Sunday. There are 13 episodes of Confidential, lasting 15 minutes each.

Synopsis

Described as focusing on the human element of the series, Confidential features behind-the-scenes footage on the making of Doctor Who through clips and interviews with the cast, production crew and other people, including those who have participated in the television series over the years of its existence.

Each episode deals with a different topic, and in most cases refers to the Doctor Who episode that preceded it.

The first season was narrated by Simon Pegg (who played the Editor in "The Long Game").
