Season 1 Synopsis
Wild at Heart is the story of an English family who move to the South African bush to set up and run a game reserve – and sort out the problems within the family itself.
When the six part series begins, Danny Trevanion (a widower and vet in his early 40's) is living in England with his 18-year-old daughter Rosie, Sarah (his wife of six months) and Sarah's two children from her previous marriage, eight-year-old Olivia and 13-year-old Evan.
Family tensions are running high... but when Danny brings home a monkey whose life he saved after it was smuggled illegally into the country, Sarah decides that the family should travel together to Africa to return the monkey to its natural habitat.
Their world changes forever as they adjust to life in a very different land.
Season 2 Synopsis
It's over a year since the Trevanion family left England and settled into life in Africa. But living the dream isn't plain sailing as Danny and Sarah struggle with the demands of animals and guests.
Unexpected challenges arise when the neighbouring game park is taken over by an ambitious manager, an orphaned baby elephant ends up on their doorstep and the arrival of old friends and relatives cause friction in the family.
They all have to contend with jealousy, tragedy and unrequited love while dealing with wounded cheetahs, aggressive hippos, a one-winged vulture and angry lions.
But the biggest threat to the family's survival comes when Danny and Du Plessis are involved in a tragic accident. Will the Trevanions have to return to England after all?
Season 3 Synopsis
This season of Wild at Heart takes a look at the Trevanion family as they try to expand their veterinary practice and as they struggle through the drought with their neighbours.
Sarah continues to juggle work and family life, and her daughter, Rosie, is keen to prove she can be a good assistant to her father while dating bar owner Max.
In the third season Jessie Wallace, best known for her role as Kat Slater in Eastenders, joins the cast as Essex girl Amy Kriel.
Amy has flown out to Africa to join her husband Elliott who has just bought the smart safari park next door to Leopard's Den.
Unimpressed with the reality of her new life in Africa, Amy soon starts to regret ever coming out at all... that is, until she meets Sarah (Amanda Holden).
Also starring Hayley Mills who plays Sarah's outspoken mother, Caroline, and Deon Stewardson who returns as Du Plessis, the Trevanion's business partner.
