Synopsis
Experiencing different countries and cultures offers unique and rewarding adventure, but some journeys are more challenging than others.
In this fascinating series featuring some of New Zealand’s best known faces, the celebrities are not, for once, whisked away to an island paradise and given the red carpet treatment.
Instead they travel as most others do; crammed into minibuses, fighting for space in train compartments or grinding along bumpy roads in a car that seemingly moves more by prayer than petrol.
Paul Holmes battles culture shock in Yemen, Pam Corkery braves the dangers of Columbia and Glen Osbourne’s mates helpfully suggest he will be shot when he visits Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
To the celebrities’ great credit they often join in the mayhem with great enthusiasm and goodwill. It may be a rough and tough way to travel but it feels very realistic.
