About the Show

So You Think You're Funny! is a South African reality competition television series produced by Curious Pictures in which amateur comedians compete to win R100,000 and an opportunity to work with premier South African comedian David Kau on upcoming projects.

The series is hosted by David Kau, with fellow judges Moshidi Motshegwa and Ntobeko "Ntosh" Madlingozi. The first season was won by Sifiso Nene.

So You Think You're Funny! premiered on SABC1 on Tuesday 11 November 2008, at 19h00. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 2 premiered on SABC1 on Monday 27 July 2009, at 19h00. New episodes air weekly. There are 13 half-hour episodes in the second season.

Season 2

Season 2 of So You Think You're Funny was launched on Wednesday 3 June 2009, at Latinova in Rosebank, attended by Season 1 winner Sifiso Nene.

The comedy series makes a comeback on SABC1 on Monday, 27 July at 19h00 for a 13-week marathon of fun and laughter. And, it promises to be better and funnier.

The auditions for the season kick off in Johannesburg on June 26 and conclude in Cape Town on July 7.

The resident judges - comedian David Kau, renowned actress Moshidi Motshegwa and comedian Ntobeko 'Ntosh' Madlingozi - will be back to dish out their witty commentary with flair and candour.

So You Think You're Funny is aimed at providing a platform for South Africans to display their comic talents and to win bragging rights as the funniest up-and-coming comedians.

Once again the prize package of R100,000 cash and an opportunity to work with David Kau for 12 months awaits the sole victor. The stakes will be high in this winner-takes-all contest.

Contestants are invited to do anything they consider to be funny and this can range from stand-up comedy, singing, dancing, magic tricks to ventriloquism - but whatever they do has to be funny and make the judges laugh.

The competition is open to anyone aged 18 years and above. The auditions run from 09h00 to 17h00 each day and are on a "first come, first served" basis.
