Sportsnite is a South African sports lifestyle talk show that features topical sports debates and relevant features including sporting results of the week, behind-the-scenes news from the sporting world and upcoming rugby, soccer and cricket matches, as well as athletics fixtures.
The series premiered on SABC2 on Friday 9 April 2010, at 21h34. New episodes air weekly. There are 26 half-hour episodes in the first season.
Synopsis
Sportsnite aims to engage and entertain viewers with topical sports debates and relevant features with standard coverage of weekly match results as well as a view from behind-the-scenes of the sporting world matches from soccer to rugby, cricket and athletics.
A member of the well established kwaito group TKZee, Kabelo Mabalane (better known as Bouga Luv) is the man behind the Sportsnite host seat.
The first episode debuts with former street style champion Chris Njokwana; co-captain of the Springbok Sevens team, Mzwandile Stick; his coach Paul Treu and the Captain of SA Women's hockey team, Marsha Marescia.
Each episode features a soccer world cup update, news updates, three studio guests, a studio audience, a live band and viewer competitions.
Other studio guests featured in the following episodes include prominent sports personalities such as Neil Tovey, Hezekiel Sepeng, Mark Fish, Makhaya Ntini, Aaron Mokoena, Bryan Habana, Khotso Mokoena and Lucas Radebe, all sharing the secrets behind their successful careers.
Sportsnite is recorded in Studio 2 at the Waterfront Studios, where Africa's two largest sound stages are located. The programme is recorded one day before broadcast to ensure that content is current and fresh.
