About the Show

Launch My Line is an American reality competition series produced by Lake Paradise Entertainment and hosted by Dean and Dan Caten, founders of fashion label Dsquared², in which professionals compete against one another in hopes of winning the chance to launch their own clothing line.

The series premiered in the USA on Bravo on 2 December, 2009.

Launch My Line premiered in South Africa on DStv's Universal Channel on Tuesday 10 August 2010, at 22h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are eight hour-long episodes in the first season.

Synopsis

Launch My Line features 10 established fashion designers paired with 10 industry professionals, who are highly regarded in their own field of expertise, but have always dreamed of having their own clothing line.

From stylists, music producers, event planners to CEOs and choreographers, the innovators will work with the established designers to bring their vision to life and create a fashion line.

In the end, one team will be declared the winner and someone's clothing line will be launched.

Acclaimed designers, twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared² join Launch My Line as hosts, and fashion notables Stefani Greenfield and Lisa Kline serve as judges.

Each week the teams will be put to the test, as they have to rely on each other's expertise to get through the competition.

Some teams form a natural connection while others have instant tension – but at the end of every episode a complete look from each team must walk the runway and be judged in front of a live studio audience.

Contestants include stylists, music producers, writers and choreographers - all without fashion experience. To assist them in their quest to win the show they're joined by 10 established designers who help them design and compete.

The 10 competing professionals are:

Dan Karaty - Choreographer
David Applebaum - Architect
Eric Cubeechee - DJ
Kevin Black - Music Executive
Kathy Rose - Jewelry Designer
Louanna Rawls - Wardrobe Stylist
Marilyn Crawford - CEO
Merle Ginsberg - Fashion Critic
Patrick McDonald - Fashion Writer
Vanessa Gonzalez - Event Director

In each episode they have to complete a fashion design task, which is judged by a panel of judges and live studio audience.
