About the Show

Jane by Design is an American comedy-drama television series created by April Blair which follows the misadventures of Jane Quimby, a teenager who is mistaken for an adult and lands a job in a hip, trendy fashion house who must then balance her high school life and her job.

The series aired in the USA on ABC Family from 3 January to 31 July, 2012. There are 18 hour-long episodes in one season.

Jane by Design premiered in South Africa on DStv's M-Net Series channel on Friday 6 April 2012, at 19h30. It went on hiatus after the tenth episode had aired (on 8 June 2012) to accommodate a similar hiatus in the USA.

The series resumed with Episode 11 on Friday 31 August 2012, at 19h30. New episodes broadcast weekly.

Synopsis

Jane by Design is a light-hearted drama about Jane, a teenager who lands a job at Donovan Decker, a hip fashion house, when they mistake her for an adult.

Jane soon finds herself juggling life both as a regular high school student and as an assistant to a high powered executive in the cutthroat world of fashion... all while trying to keep her true identity a secret.

Jane by Design stars Erica Dasher as Jane Quimby; Nick Roux as Billy Nutter, Rowly Dennis as Jeremy Jones, India de Beaufort as India Jourdain, Meagan Tandy as Lulu Pope, Matthew Atkinson as Nick Fadden and featuring Andie MacDowell, who stars as Gray Chandler Murray - Jane's steely boss whose constant demands keep her on her toes.

The series is executive produced by Gavin Polone (Gilmore Girls), John Ziffren (Melissa & Joey) and April Blair (Lemonade Mouth).
