Season 1
Six Degrees is a drama series about six very different New Yorkers who go about their lives without realizing the impact they're having on one another. A mysterious web of coincidences gradually draws them closer and changes the course of their lives forever.
The series is based on possibilities that a greater force is at work guiding everyone together and connecting the lives of humans. The belief is that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person through a chain of six people, which means that no one is a stranger... for long.
In the premiere episode, Laura, a grieving single mother, begins the chain. Next is Whitney, the self-made success story who thinks her boyfriend is cheating. Move on to Steven, the artist/photographer who believes he's lost his "eye." Follow with Damian, who can't escape his criminal brother's shadow, then on to Mae, the girl with a dangerous past that she's hiding from, and finally to Carlos, the good guy with a crush who doesn't know what he's in for.
This tale of intertwined destinies looks at how romance, success, peace or forgiveness might be right around the corner but can also be lost in an instant.
It's a story that emphaises how small the world really is and how someone just five people away might be shaping your future right now.
The 6 Main Characters Are:
Carlos A New York City public defender. He’s a hopeless romantic and a relentless optimist who just wants to help the people he defends – especially when he helps a young woman, Mae, off of a misdemeanor charge. After their first fleeting encounter, Carlos comes to believe their connection was a flicker of fate, and he sets off on a romantic journey to find Mae.
Whitney
A hard-charging PR executive who seems to have it all. She finds satisfaction in her career and the power of becoming partner at her firm. But Whitney’s Achilles’ heel is her handsome and deceptive boyfriend, who she desperately wants to believe is loyal. Even after they’re engaged.
Mae Anderson
A free spirit and an independent young woman trying to find her way in the big city. She’s also hiding from something in her past. Always avoiding danger, Mae creates new identities on the spot, which she sometimes finds necessary for reasons unknown. Her life will take a sudden detour when she meets a young public defender, Carlos, who helps her out of a jam on their first meeting.
Damian
A towncar driver who is trying to overcome his criminal past with honest work. Dogged by gambling debts and his older brother’s entreaties, Damian will constantly be tempted to return to a life of crime and easy money.
Steven Caseman
A brilliant and formerly well-respected photographer whose family and career were shattered by his ego and substance abuse. Back from rock bottom, we catch up with him at the beginnings of his personal and professional renewal. Steven will wrestle with new and old demons, as he tries to regain his stature as an artist and to repair his relationship with his young son.
Laura
A recently widowed mother who’s raising a young daughter. She’s picked up the pieces and is ready to start anew. With the support of friends and her new nanny, Mae, Laura decides to forge ahead with a new career and perspective on life.
