Season 2

Dream World is a South African romantic comedy television series which began life as a miniseries adapted from A Midsummer Night's Dream and produced by Bridget Pickering of Fireworx Media as part of the SABC1 "Shakespeare in Mzansi" strand, a collection of miniseries which contemporise various works of Shakespeare into a South African context.

It is the sixth of six mini-series in the strand. The others are Entabeni (Macbeth), Izingane zoBaba (King Lear), uGugu no Andile (Romeo and Juliet), Death of a Queen (also Macbeth) and Forced Love (The Taming of the Shrew).

The series originally aired on SABC1 from 11 October to 1 November, 2012, on Thursdays at 20h30, with four hour-long episodes. Although intended as a four-hour miniseries it was revived in 2015 for a second season consisting of 13 half-hour episodes.

Season 2 of the drama series picks from where Season 1 left off, with the two main couples in the first leg of their romantic relationships.

Now they are established couples and the new series explores the growth and maturation of love and how love changes shapes and colours just as young people in love change and grow themselves.

Can love be sustained as human beings evolve? And what new shapes does it take?

The story is set against the backdrop of the four main characters' individual career and educational ambitions, their hopes and dreams, the challenges and obstacles they experience and new influences and sometimes temptations in the form of new love prospects.

Where most love stories end at 'and they lived happily ever after', Dream World now picks up after the happily ever after... what now?

The cast of Season 2 includes Lungelo Dhladhla as Hlengiwe Khumalo, Wandile Molebatsi as Lindelani, MoMo Matsunyane as Neli, Phumi Mncayi as Ndumiso, Leti Ndubane as Rosie and Lindani Nkosi as Baba Khumalo.

Season 2 is produced by Bridget Pickering of Fireworx Media. The head writer is Busisiwe Ntintili and the series director is Myrto Makrides. Music was composed by Tshepang Ramoba.
