Season 4

The Real Goboza is a South African celebrity gossip and entertainment magazine show produced by Urban Brew which features the latest news and gossip about South African celebrities and the events and happenings they're involved with.

The series premiered on SABC1 on Wednesday 27 June 2007, at 21h00. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 4 premiered on SABC1 on Saturday 4 September 2010, at 18h00. New episodes broadcast weekly. There are 26 half-hour episodes in the fourth season.

Season 4

The new season of Real Goboza is slick and glossier and comes with two new presenters in the form of Phat Joe and Brenda Ngxoli.

The celeb lifestyle show is all about beautiful celebs and what they are up to and offers a mixture of humorous and tacky gossip.

The new Real Goboza exposes viewers to an "in-depth" and sometimes intrusive look into the sublime lives of our celebrities.

Filled with events, gossip, scoops, profiles, spoofs, fashion, lifestyle and more, the new Real Goboza is a presentation of Mzansi's fast, trendy glam and entertainment life.

Phat Joe and Branda Ngxoli aim to turn the show into a safe retreat where stars and icons feel comfortable enough to air their views, to tell their side of the story, or just to relax for an intimate chat.

About the Show

The show features the latest news and gossip about Mzansi (South African) celebrities and the hip events and happenings they're involved with.

The show's magazine format covers music, movies, TV and South Africa's social scene and mixes comedy, fact and live music to share the news.

Regular inserts include interviews with celebs from within their homes and snazzy cars, entertainment news updates, red carpet coverage, reviews, fashion and celeb scandal.

Whether it's spilling the beans about socialites or sexy business people, soap stars or the escapades of the daughters of the powerful, the show aims to celebrate the media and those peole who've achieved recognition in it.

Filmed both in studio and on location, the first season of the show was hosted by Yfm DJs Dineo Ranaka and Trevor Noah and featured a special TV insert called "TV With Lelo" which was hosted by TVSA blogger Brown Shuga, who went by her real name (Lelo Boyana) on the show.

This insert included updates and gossip about the latest TV shows on SABC's channels.

Trevor Noah and Dineo Ranaka left the show after the first season. Fashion journalist Kuli Roberts replaced Ranaka for Season 2 as the female host. The male replacement for Noah was Siyabonga Ngwekazi.

Roberts and Ngwekazi were replaced for the fourth season by television and radio personality Phat Joe and actress Brenda Ngxoli. Pearl Thusi replaced Ngxoli towards the end of Season 5 and she was replaced by Sinazo Yolwa and Amanda Du-Pont for the final episode of Season 7, who went on to host Season 8 with Phat Joe.
