Designing Women is an American television sitcom created by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason that centered around the working and personal lives of four women in an interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
The series originally aired in the USA on CBS from 29 September, 1986 to 24 May, 1993. There are 163 episodes in seven seasons.
Designing Women originally aired in South Africa on e.tv, on Thursdays at 18h05. It was later broadcast on DStv's M-Net Series channel.
Synopsis
Designing Women is a sitcom centered around the working and personal lives of four women in an interior design firm in Atlanta, Georgia.
Julia Sugarbaker, Mary Jo Shively, Charlene Frazier-Stillfield and Suzanne Sugarbaker all work together at Sugarbaker and Associates.
The founder of the company is Julia Sugarbaker, a sharp-tongued but elegant and surprisingly compassionate woman. Her younger sister, Suzanne, is a former beauty queen who is long on charm but a bit slow on the uptake.
Their associates are Mary Jo Shively, a recent divorcee, and officer manager Charlene Frazier, whose sweetness is matched only by her naivete.
Their deliveryman is Anthony Bouvier, a well-spoken ex-convict, and cheerfully dotty senior citizen Bernice Clifton often drops by for a visit as well.
