Corne and Twakkie fans will be flippen chuffed about this: those two crazy lovers and lovers of lovers are returning to SABC2 in January for a second season of, literally, The Most Amazing Shows.
Show. Sorry.
Corne and Twakkie met in a trailer park in 1978 but their paths split soon after. While growing up they bumped into each other in various trailer parks.
Their destinies were always intertwined and in 1990 they finally agreed to hit the road on an adventure with little more in common than struggling childhoods and an irrepressible love for the ladies.
Despite Corne's high-handed dominance, Twakkie clinged in awe of Corne's divine sexual virtuosity and when still together five years later, Corne persuaded Twakkie to take to the stage and help him spread the word to the needy and take them to the top.
The fans kept growing and now after a decade of trawling through small towns across our beautiful country, the time has come for them once again to speak the good vibe and the ancient Style of Love through the mass medium of television.
This time around SABC2 has taken some much-needed steps to improve the format. The show is shorter (a half an hour as opposed to an hour) so it's a lot tighter, and according to the channel "faster and funnier".
There is no longer a hot tub or guest bands, so the show will be more streamlined. It is also more about Corne and Twakkie, which we felt it should always have been. They are the comedy - not the flippen guys, ladies or ladyguys that appear on the show.
According to SABC2 we can still expect to see familiar elements from the first season such as The Road Trip entitled "Finding Marna", wherein a documentary film crew follow Corne and Twakkie on an epic adventure to find out what happened to Corne's Mamma Marna; as well as Corne's advice segment, The Love Captain.
The ongoing feud between Twakkie and Arno Carstens from the first season also continues and indeed reaches new heights.
"If anyone is crazy enough to give us a second season then hold onto your flippen faceballs cos anything can and will happen," said Corne and Twakkie in a statement.
"See you on the other side of fame."
The second season of The Most Amazing Show premieres on SABC 2 on Thursday 11 January 2007, at 22h00.
