Next week Tuesday (3 July) sees the launch of a new reality competition show on SABC1 called RiZe Mzansi, which pits 12 companies against each other for the chance to win R1-million in business capital.

Produced by Talent Attack TV Productions, RiZe Mzansi aims to educate small businesses about the trials and tribulations that other small businesses face.

Each episode will centre on explicit business topics, varying from marketing and sales to financial management.

Every week the entrepreneurs will compete in a task to win business infrastructure. The winner will be chosen on a mix of experiential criteria and by a panel of board members.

Over the course of the series they will take part in various business-related challenges and tasks. According to the channel they will be "placed under extreme pressure and deadlines".

Eventually the company with the highest profit margin will win. Even the losers will win, as the skills they will be taught and the exposure they will get on South Africa's most-watched channel will be invaluable to their future success.

Aside from the priceless, free marketing campaign the winner gets from being on the show and winning it, they will also receive a prize of R1-million to really get them going.

The 13-episode show will be hosted by former Yizo Yizo star Tshepo Ngwane, who is currently starring as Mdu Sibiya in the drama series Zone 14.

“Presenting this show is a step in another direction," he said. "I’m now an artist branching out and it’s exciting. I love the show and the experience.”

The judges are serial entrepreneur Allon Raiz, banking investment consultant Jacky Molisane and PR specialist Zandile Nzalo.

TVSA reported the news of this show in February, but back then it was tentatively titled Kick Start. The producers subsequently discovered that another show by that name was in production, leading to the name change to RiZe Mzansi.

Thre are 13 one-hour episodes in the series.
