Scandal! has gone through a major transformation since the early days. Half of the original cast has made way for new characters that have significantly upped the tempo. The variety of characters add to the drama as they bring different perspectives to the journey the news goes through in reaching the public.

a magazine publication (both under the NZH umbrella – founded by Stan Nyathi and Vusi Zwane) are the centre for this drama that takes you into the world of the latest and greatest breaking-news stories.
Scandal! provides a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes in the newsroom of busy publications and what everyone gets up to after work.
1.Thato Nyathi
Thato is the former adulterous wife to Stan Nyathi. She's the mother to 20yr old Mangi and 6 month old Busi. Both were conceived during a 20 yr affair with Vusi Zwane, Stan's best friend and business associate. With Vusi being dead, who is going to provide for Busi's needs. Will Thato find someone to play daddy to little Busi?
Current storyline:Thato and Busi live with Maletsatsi and Eddie. There is talk of the Zwane family arranging a 'ceremony' to accept baby Busi into their family and introduce her to the Zwane lineage. Eddie can't wait for the day when Thato moves out because he has had to sleep on the couch to make room for Thato and her daughter.
2.Eddie Khumalo
Editor of The Voice. Has been at The Voice since its inception and has seen the Voice through the editor's illness and personal crises--is the rock of salvation, so to speak. Was a single father to Lolo for a long time until he met and got married to Maletsatsi. Alcoholism has created a fair amount of drama around his personal and work life.
He's moved up the ladder from being a sports writer /features writer to becoming the news editor of the Voice and in the process acquired a skill in speaking Afrikaans..
3.Maletsatsi Khumalo
Eddie's wife and step mom to Lolo, Maletsatsi is a former prostitute and has since turned to God, much to Eddie's irritation. Has recently reunited with her daughter, Palesa after having left her at home to pursue her
career, 20 years ago. Thato Nyathi's Bestfriend, she works as Tino's PA and sometimes forgets that she's not his mother.
She is caught in between thr rock that is Eddie and the hard place that is Thato and her loyalty to her friend. She has the difficult task of placating Eddie and being there for her friend at her darkest hour. Eddie has not made it a secret that he disapproves of Thato's affair with Vusi.
4.Palesa 
Maletsatsi's daughter. Raised by her grandparents and came to Jozi to find her mother. Currently works as a receptionist at NZH. Has found love in Fana Baloyi. Has recently found out that she is HIV positive and disclosed her status to Fana who in turn informed Maletsatsi and of course everyone in the Khumalo household is privy to this information.
5. Alex Phiri
Working on his marriage with Morongwe and raising his twins after serving an 8 year sentence in prison for manslaughter.NZH employee. Morongwe's sister pretended to have adopted his twins so he doesn't find out that he has kids. Morongwe eventually told him the truth cause she was growing jealous of the amount of time her sis and her husband were spending together.
6.Abigal Martins
Tino Martin's mother. Owns RT's thanks to her criminal and underground activities. Her sights are firmly set on the power hungry Mo and their alliance is definitely not built on anything holy.....
7. Morongwe Molefe
Cut a deal with Abigail Rodriguez to land the shares at NZH. A career-focussed go-getter and a bit of a slave driver. Alex's wife and mother of twins
8.Valentino (Tino) Martins
The level-headed, handsome NZH Landlord and entrepreneur. Redefining his relationship with Shakira after the their bond as lovers broke down when they found out that they were half brother and sister. A real mama’s boy!
