Khanyi Dlomo, the face of success

I don’t know much about Khanyi Dlomo, but the little that I do know (from reading) proves that she is destined for great things.

Pic: Khanyi and her new man

Oooohhh; lets see, her accolades include:

- Face of Lux (who can forget that)
- SA’s best dressed woman – 1997;
- Most stylish news reader;
- Editor of the Year – 2001;

Unfortunately she went through a divorce (some men just don’t know what they want, how do you cheat on someone like Khanyi?) and even that she handled with dignity. Instead of making a public spectacle of it (which was well within her rights) she opted for a peaceful settlement out of court. Khanyi then packed her bags, and left for France to become the manager of Tourism South Africa (TSA). She then went to Harvard University in the US to study an MBA. I’m sure Dr Sthembiso Mkhize (her former hubby) is kicking himself now.

Now, Khanyi is back (to kick ass), with a new man and a new vision. She’s currently seeing a Nigerian American brother - Chinezi Chijioke. They met at Harvard and have been dating for just over a year. From the picture in the paper (Sunday Times), the guy is gorgeous and I feel Khanyi has done well for herself. She has been quoted as saying “He is intelligent, kind and fun, and we are very happy”. Considering how private she has been, she must know that she has bagged herself a real man, and is sharing her happiness with the world.

Khanyi has also launched a new magazine Destiny – a high-end businesswomen’s magazine (I’m definitely getting myself a copy). From her track record, there is no doubt in my mind that this too will be one of her successful ventures yet.

I am so proud of Khanyi; she is inspirational without being arrogant. She is dedicated, humble and intelligent and many of us can learn from her.

I did, i actually like it...its different, you have to see it to understand

I love Khanyi Dlomo...BUT...Miss Brown why do you say her dating that Nigerian is an upgrade, what was wrong with our very own local millionare enteerpreneur Mark Shuttleworth whom she was "reportedly" dating before heading for France

and Dimago what do you mean she was within her right to make a public spectacle of her divorce.phela ultimately she's the one who's high-profile so she woulda hurt hereslef more...that was just a smart thin to do coz uSthembiso wouldnt have suffered that much
and also there are two sides of the story...some of them pretty and brainy girls can be nasty in relationships  so maybe Sthembiso  "was pushed"  to cheating  hi hi hi..maybe there's something he wasnt getting  and insted of dumping her he stay for people who think he should becoz she's pretty/successful/wara wara..

-of course she did the right thing getting out but y'all cant judge and defend HER until you hear his side (which you probably will neva hear)

But I think I understand i-tone ka-Dimago...she's taking the "sistaz stick together route"   oh well fine then...I wish Khanyi the best though  and Sthembiso too coz I met him once and he seemed like a decent nice chap.
.(I'm rootin for him to come out and date some hot shot successful BEEbabe who's also in the limelight while she's shaggin some Nigerian...hi hi hi just kiddin...

nokubonga
20 Oct 2007 06:46

Haaaaaaaaaaaa...Sponono...such wishful thinking. Do you want him to date the BEE chick to spite Khanyi.....even so lots of people hold her in high regard it won't change a thing!!!!!!

Dimago
20 Oct 2007 07:21

and Dimago what do you mean she was within her right to make a public spectacle of her divorce
Spopo, i meant that since Sthembiso did her wrong she could have opted to go public, expose him, degrade him etc....but instead she handled it in a dignified manner.

But I think I understand i-tone ka-Dimago...she's taking the "sistaz stick together route"
No i-tone yami is saying "Halala Sis Khanyi, i admire you, strong beautiful black woman"

I meant from "Sthembiso to Chinezi" is definitely an upgrade and I'm referring to looks. Not that Mark Shuttleworth was cute, he's just an average looking guy with money.

@ sponono :Ayi man.. Saba pro waba anti. Yinto inxaki yakho.

Khanyi is certainly what a young woman like myself apsires to be. She is smart, humble and classy.

i see Khanyi has a lot of admirers and i love the fact that Sponono raised the issue of sistaz sticking together tip cause there's more to her than what meets the eye....i will leave it at that seeing that i cannot afford lawyers.....But yeah she's a hot mama who got brains and bigg up to her for being an "inspiration" to our women....

nokubonga
22 Oct 2007 04:13

sticking together tip cause there's more to her than what meets the eye...Its always like that as most black guys are threatened by a powerful happening woman.

Toxic
22 Oct 2007 04:43

didn't see this article on Friday otherwise would have responded then....my gripe with the TV ad:

Yeah, it's reverse pyschology and i get that..it jsut ends on an abrupt note and the lady doing the ad seems "expectant" in the end....if you watch it closely you'll see this. I have no prob with Khanyi and might never buy the mag cause i'm the wrong target market, but I'd have expected her to make much bigger waves with introducing her mag, not that 7 second ad.

Woman

Cos that's Khanyi's target market

Yho guys, its such a small world. I worked with Khanyi's man at one Global Consulting company in JHB up until end of June this year and guys, before I got to know the guys in the team, I've always thought he had such beautiful eyes (even told my man about this brother with the most gorgeous eyes. Well done Khanyi, Chinezi is indeed one intelligent, humble, man with a sense of humour (and dress sense). All the best to Khanyi and her new page of her life

He is for real. When I first met him (last year Oct) he had been in the country for 4 months,he had been to Business school prior to that (thru the company). He is for real. He brought her along to one of our company events this year.

zazacious Dr guy is still gone kick himself even harder...funny thing about feelings..is once you get someone out of your system  you really dont feel any envy on their achivements or regret about having broken up ..instead you even wish themwell and whateva they achiev -to you-its not big deal so maybe the Dr Guya has just moved on quite nicely and is very happy with some unknown-les-famous but hopefully a succesfull woman in his life...maybe when he talks to her they are best of firends who knows

Anyway Khanyi said they met at Harvard fundraising according to True-love, So that means she knew that its possible for him to move to S.A...wish them luck though.

How is Khanyi luvs...is he gorgeous even in real life????

23 Oct 2007 05:48

Halalala Khanyi, I still believe that after she left True Love mag, things went downhill for them.  What I also love about her  is that she is humble, beautiful succesful, yet down-to-earth individuals are very rare to find nowadays.  I trully wish her all the best with her new boo, and her life has clearly shown that she is the face of success!!!!

Nonny (as Belz calls you) you are very right on that one. I don't think the TL has improved on the job she has done....The mag still has Khanyi written all over it...and this is 2 editors later?

this is one woman that makes me proud, she defines what a true south african woman is, her beauty, humbleness and intelligence are to be admired. i look up to this woman and think khanyi mbau should take tips 4rm her. having the same name as khanyi just makes me smile everytime her name pops up. may God bless her with happiness and success. mwah bitso

wow, khanyi is fenominal. a true inspiration. she is a true rolemodel. all her successes and no gloting about it. she is the most humble, classy, stylish power house of a woman, i root for her any day. i mean who can keep up with her successful work? she is a LADYalot of us south african ladies can learn from. id rather have a reality program of her than khanyisile mbau. now mbau can learn alot from her namesake.
