Newsflash: Come Dine With Me SA has been cancelled by BBC Worldwide and won't be returning for Season 4.
According to BBC bigwigs, the show has been canned because they want to do a new South African format and feel that Come Dine With Me SA has run its full course (pun intended).
This from Joel Churcher, VP and General Manager of BBC Worldwide in Africa:
"Come Dine With Me South Africa was a huge hit for BBC Entertainment and we are very proud of the series. We feel the time is right to take this experience and seek new opportunities for a fresh, innovative local format for audiences to enjoy. We are committed to investing in the very best quality programming for our channels and are actively looking at all opportunities.” "All opportunities" sounds good to me. Sounds promising.
What show would you like them to do? They could take over
Strictly Come Dancing which has disappeared from SABC3 yet again. There were supposed to be two seasons of it this year but it's nowhere to seen so it needs to be saved.
A much better option would be Shark Tank though. If SONY doesn't do it first. SONY's also looking at doing a local format show and I recently requested that they do the reality show Shark Tank. If you missed the plea, here's a link to it:
SONY going local says top boss.
Shark Tank would suit BBC Entertainment a
lot too, particularly because they already air the British version of the series,
Dragons' Den. They could even do a Dragons' Den ... I prefer Skark Tank because it's more glitzy but I'd be very happy with Dragons' Den too.
Bring it on!!
