Press Release

The Lifetime channel opens up for a weekend on DStv

For one weekend only, DStv Premium channel Lifetime (channel 131) will be made available for ‘open time viewing’ to all DStv Extra, Compact, Family and Access subscribers.

Lifetime is known for its scripted dramas, original movies and entertainment reality shows aimed at female viewers. From 20 - 23 February 2015, subscribers will be wowed by a multitude of exciting content – and at no extra cost.

The scintillating entertainment will culminate in a screening of Whitney, a biographical movie based on the life of iconic singer, Whitney Houston. Angela Basset, famous for her portrayal of Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It, makes her directorial debut in this gripping tale. The story follows the icon’s meteoric rise to stardom and her tumultuous, bitter relationship with boyfriend (singer-songwriter) Bobby Brown.

Whitney Houston is best known for Grammy Award-winning songs such as ‘Greatest Love Of All’; ‘Saving All My Love For You’; ‘I Will Always Love You’; ‘Where Do Broken Hearts Go’ and the smashing hit on her last album, ‘I Look To You’.

Whitney will premiere on Sunday, 22 February at 20h00. Be sure not to miss it!

Lifetime will also be adding two new shows to their line-up, as well as other must-see content such as:
