Everyone has been waiting for it to happen and now it has. TVSA can confirm that the SABC has renewed Uzalo for a second season.

Uzalo commissioning editor Ntando Mhlongo has confirmed the news to us, hot on the heels of the agreement which is still sizzling as we speak. Word from Ntando is that the SABC and the production have signed a memorandum of understanding for a Season 2 to follow on from Season 1 when it ends in the first quarter of 2016.

SABC1 will be airing soccer at the start of 2016, which always sends the schedule into chaos. The new season will start once this is all over and it's going to premiere with other new properties. The channel has various shows in production so they're going to arrive in a blitz of premieres.

Uzalo's renewal doesn't mean that it's going to be turned into a soapie. According to Ntando, SABC1 feels that there isn't room for another soapie on the channel so it will remain a three-nights-a-week telenovela.

The show has a huge following its a good thing the renewed for season 2 . Sabc 1 must have a follow on for its shows .when tempy pushas ended we should already had an idea whether there will be 3rd season .right now we are watchin a repeat season of End Game with Hlomla dandala .they should have proud us a new season .good SA dramas are left to hang only with one season .

I believe the reasons Uzalo was quick to be renewened is beyond its popularity. Other SABC1 shows have enjoyed popularity on their first broadcast but have been delayed to be renewed in the past. The likes of SOUL CITY, TEMPY PUSHAS, END GAME, YIZO YIZO etc. I can't help but suspect there's some favouritism at play here at the SABC considering the name that is behind the production of this show. It echoes with the controversy behind its funding.

@Show-Time.. I personally don't like Uzalo.. But I honestly don't think so.. Currently it's the number one show on South African television.. Why would SABC not want to renew it when it's currently SABC's cash cow??
