Dineo was one of my favorite contestants on Idols this year. In fact I was solely voting for her. When she got eliminated last night luckily I was in attendance and grabbed a quick 5 minute chat with her to find out how she was taking the elimination, her future plans and what she has learned from Idols.
Did you see your elimination coming?
I believe I prepared myself for whatever outcome. It only clicked inside me when Proverb mentioned it. I was neutral but waiting for any kind of news. Before I went in I prayed, I told God, “whatever plan you have for me, no-matter how difficult it is, it’s going follow through”. I know that He has a plan and it’ll work eventually. I just need to trust that plan. So all this is God’s plan.
What are your plans going forward after the show?
The thing is I don’t plan on fading. You can’t see me here and then not see me after all this exposure. I am going to be gigging most of the time and I’m thinking my supporters, my family NEED to see me. They voted for me all this time, and for me to fade wouldn’t be nice. I want to go to each and every place I can possibly get to and perform, thank whoever has voted for me. Now that I’m no longer in the game doesn’t mean we are breaking up.
Have you had anyone approaching to sign you?
I hear from other people. They don’t come straight to me. I know there are people out there who would love to work with me, and that is amazing. So watch this space.
What genre of music would you be looking at taking after this?
I am a Pop, Soul and R&B singer. I believe I’m a versatile singer and I did that during idols as well. I can do most of the genres but I wouldn’t like to confuse my supporters.
Who would you prefer to win?
The person I would REALLY like to win is the person that South Africa votes for. I have learned not to wish upon something that is beyond my control. What if I said I wanted YOU to win and it doesn’t happen. I’d be heartbroken. I like everyone. So the votes should decide.
