Wow, I'm impressed with
Glow TV because they've got it going on. It's a tough racket to start a new channel but Kagiso Media and Nolava Television (who own the channel) are making it work.
Glow
launches on StarSat today which means it's now available on every satellite platform available. It first launched on OpenView HD at the end of 2013 and was added to DStv in October last year, to the Family, Compact, Extra and Premium bouquets.
It's also going to be available on Video On Demand soon - on
OnTapTV - so its infiltrating the online space too. They've made it a mission to be everywhere and it's admirable.
What impresses me more though is their relationship viewers which strongly suggests that they care. TVSA recently received a letter from a reader who shared a great story with us. His wife has a hearing disability so they wrote to Glow to ask if they would include English subtitles in their movies so she can watch them - and they have. Their movies have always been dubbed into English but now they've introduced subtitles too. Very cool I thought.
Also, they have one of the best cooking segments on TV called Food for Living. I
don't cook but I do have very strong opinions on cooking shows that don't give any consideration to the nutritional value of their recipes because there are so many people who have difficulties with such things.
I've always been stumped at the fact that the majority of shows feature recipes crammed with millions of calories and sugars and pay no attention to people who want to lose weight or to those who have diabetes etc. Food for Living takes this into account though. It even includes the perspective of a dietician.
Yet another thing they're doing right. Go Glow!
