Gosh... The First Kiss road safety ad for the Easter weekend really did a trick on me. I saw it just before the weekend and I've been thinking about it every time I leap into the car.
If you've been watching TV you'll no doubt have seen it - if not, here's a link:
The First Kiss.
I always buckle up when I'm going somewhere that isn't close to home but the ad made me realise that I wasn't buckling up when I popped to places close-by like the shops two roads away.
I obviously had this idea that nothing could happen because I wasn't far from home but seeing the crash and impact in the ad really puts a hectic spotlight on the fact that an impact is an impact no matter where you are.
There's something about the way they portray the ferocity of what happens in a smash that's made me much more aware which means the ad's done what it was intended to do. Definitely money well spent by the Western Cape's Department of Public Transport who made it.
It shouldn't only be used for Easter though - it must continue and there must be more.
