You've seen her blonde weave in the
gallery of Uzalo pix and you've heard whisperings about Sibahle
in the teasers but who is this new character?
She's Dhlomo's (Don Mlangeni Nawa) 23-year-old long lost daughter
and Ayanda's future love interest, played by TV newcomer Londeka Mlaba, a drama and media studies graduate from the University of KZN.
She debuts this Monday (23 May) and arrives on a mission to find Dhlomo because Sibahle wants to start a new life with him.
Sibahle's been through a rough time, trying to find herself and a job but nothing has gone her way. In fact, things got so bad for her that she turned to prostitution in Hillbrow to earn cash.
This is her official character description that Londeka worked from to bring the role to life:
She's generally unemployed... she's hustled to no end. She is highly skilled in social media/publicity. She believes her tough luck in finding a good job is related to the fact that she never had imbeleko performed for her. She has done some pole dancing, stripping and just about anything to earn something - eventually working as a prostitute in Hillbrow. Of course her mother doesn’t know the half of it.
She finds Dhlomo by using social media to track him down after seeing him being rewarded for his work on the news. Her mother Nontsetselo is a classical woman scorned, who withheld all rights to Sibahle after Dhlomo refused to marry her.
All this has led to complex feelings within Sibahle because she desperately wants her father's approval and acceptance but she also believes that she isn't worthy of anything good - which should be fun for Ayanda. NOT
.
Things are clearly very complicated with her, which is always good when you're
watching the relationship instead of living it.
