Hit your snooze button and have a doze because Uzalo's extension to five days a week isn't going to happen soon.
When Hlaudi Motsoeneng
decreed the news about extending it last month it sounded as if it was going to happen immediately but it's been almost a month and there's no word on what's happening with it yet.
TVSA has been investigating to see what's going on and it turns out there's a
lot of talk going on behind-the-scenes.
Word from an insider close to the show is that the producers and the SABC are in discussions about how to do it logistically because the current season has almost finished filming. The season ends in February next year so if it moves to five days a week now, there won't be enough episodes to last until February.
The extension also means that each season needs to have almost double the current episodes so it's going to need a bigger budget, which has explosive implications considering the
recent controversy surrounding the show's budget.
In a nutshell: it's looking highly likely that the earliest it will extend is when the new season starts next year. We'll sound the alarm if and when it happens.
