e.tv publicist Joe Strydom has landed himself a show on Afrikaans channel VIA on DStv.
Joe is the guy who dishes the news on Rhythm City and other e.tv shows so I was tickled when I heard that he's stepping in front of the cam.
His show is titled Skatjagter (Treasure hunter) and starts today (Monday, 6 March) at 17h30.
It follows Joe and his mom Dol as they search for second hand treasures and contemporary antiques which they Dol up by upcycling them to increase their value.
Each episode follows them as they find their gems and chat to the people who originally discovered the items. They then take their loot back to their workshop where they give practical tips on how to resurrect and upcycle the things they've found.
Joe and his mom have had a passion for doing this for years so Joe pitched the idea to VIA and voila! they accepted and made it. They filmed it during the December holz and Joe took leave in Jan. to cover the rest of the time needed.
