Model

A 10-part series that delves into the world of the fashion industry.

Models and wild cards from around SA audition in this year's competition to try and cement their place in the model mansion.

Twelve models are carefully selected from the judging panel consisting of Kholofelo Mabusela (industry professional), Coenraad de Mol (fashion designer) and Pieter Black (model).

These models get to work with SA's best fashion photographers and international fashion designers.

But will they have what it takes to endure the vigorous challenges thrown at them by show host, Christia Visser?

Emotions run high and models crack under pressure as the challenges test them mentally and physically.

Alliances are formed; friendships are made and broken; and one by one, models are eliminated from the house.

Which model will have what it takes to earn the right to the main prize - an international modelling contract and the right to call themselves the 'Ultimate Model'?

Not just another pretty face. The winner takes all.

Loadshedding, corruption and corporate mismanagement at Eskom has been in the news for numerous years.

At times, there is no electricity for up to eight hours a day.

Winter is on its way, and frustrations are running high.

South Africans are feeling helpless as it seems as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

This documentary takes an in-depth look at Eskom, the reasons why it is in the state it is and how it affects South Africans across the board.

All these aspects – corruption, loadshedding, corporate mismanagement and the like – will be discussed from the perspective of how it impacts our daily lives.

With this Onthul documentary, viewers will get the background to the problem as well as perspectives on a possible way forward.

When André de Ruyter, the former head of Eskom, had a lengthy interview with eNCA in February 2023, he made several claims that had the country reeling in disbelief.

South Africans realised just how enormous the problems at the state entity are.

Onthul: Kragreus op sy Knieë looks at how loadshedding started and discusses the consequences with representatives of Solidariteit and COSATU.

South Africans want to know how long loadshedding will continue, why it is happening and what they can do to lessen the impact.

These questions are answered from a practical as well as a political and historical perspective in interviews with, among others, Connie Mulder (Solidariteit), Willem Els (Institute for Security Studies) and Dirk Hermann (Solidariteit).

There are also interviews with Eskom employees – from technical teams on the ground to the head of the Kendal power station and the Chief Operating Officer of Eskom, Jan Oberholzer.

They talk about how they are treated by the public and what it takes to fulfil their work obligations under almost impossible circumstances.

With the general election of 2024 around the corner and a political landscape where corruption is apparently a daily occurrence, there are also interviews with Kyle Cowan, writer of Sabotage: Eskom Under Siege, and financial journalist Antoinette Slabbert to try and make sense of all the allegations of criminal activities in and around Eskom and the crime cartels allegedly running the show in Mpumalanga.

In the end, this is a problem that affects all of us.

When we know what we're up against, we can start working together towards a solution.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 7

When the new season begins, special guests will contribute far more than special appearances throughout the season - they'll be part of the design team.

In each episode, the "EM:HE" bus will pick up a new volunteer to join the team and help during the build, providing a rare chance to visit America's heartland and connect with real people who need help.

Celebrity volunteers will pull up their sleeves, create a design project and put their personal stamp on the home.

The celebrity volunteers will actually roll up in the bus and surprise the deserving family.

They will get to know the family's circumstances and needs one on one.

In between pouring foundations and framing walls, the celebrity volunteers will jump right into the centre of the town - connecting with the locals, hanging out with the design team, spearheading a community project and bringing their unique personality and talents to the project.

It's not all hard labour and sweat - every episode has plenty of room for good times with good people.

Getting on the bus will allow America to get to know the celebrity volunteers in an entirely new way - as a real person who wants to make a real difference.

In addition to these stars, other surprise guests will also get on board - for example memorable families from past seasons who have a special connection to the week's cause, and others found through a nationwide campaign to identify fans across the country who will appear on an episode and help out with the build.

This season expect to see more extreme homes, the latest in extreme technology, and families with more immediate need for a home than ever before.

In addition, there will be "green" elements built into every episode, with eco-friendly, low energy and recyclable sources being incorporated into designs.

In the Season 7 premiere, "Huber Family": The show travels to South Range, WI, to tell Howard Huber, a hero firefighter and his service minded wife, Jessica, that they will have a newly rebuilt home in seven days.

Actress Patricia Heaton is the celebrity volunteer for this episode - meeting the family, helping on the build - and the music group Five for Fighting will perform.

When Howie and Jessica met, they each felt they'd found a true partner, someone who valued hard work and community involvement.

They bought a dilapidated farmhouse, figuring that Howie could fix it up within a few years, as he used to work in construction.

Although they were struggling financially, Jessica, a nursing student, encouraged Howie to pursue his lifelong dream of being a firefighter.

Through long hours of hard work and with as many as five jobs between them, the Hubers were able to both pay off their debt and see Howie established as the most popular and most decorated firefighter in town.

In the meantime, both Hubers did everything they could to repair the old house that was the only home they could afford.

Unfortunately, they now know that it's far beyond their ability to repair.

The two-storey farmhouse has a chimney separating from the house, improperly installed windows and severe water damage throughout; the electrical, heat and sewage systems are unsafe; every time Howie goes to work, he fears that the next 911 call he intercepts might be about his own home.

Now it's up to Ty and the gang to allay Howie's fear and fulfill his wish to have a home that's safe for their children.
