Ndavi and Shudu

Two former Miss South Africa's have been cast in Duma Ndlovu's new Mzansi Magic series Queen Modjadji: Ndavi Nokeri (2022) and Shudu Musida (2020).

According to the channel, cast has been selected for their ability to speak the Khelovedu language and to portray the historic characters.

It scares us. Schmodels in a historical drama - how "Method" will they be? But okay, let's not be judgy and see.

They play royal wives from the VhaVenda and VaTshonga Royal families, Muthanoni Mulalo and Muthanoni Khensani.

That's the only info available about their characters so maybe they won't have to do a lot.

These are details on four other cast members who've been announced so far:

Ngele Ramulondi (Generations, S'phiwo, Fatal Seduction)

Who plays Young Queen Modjadji, 14-year-old Maselegwani.

Newcomer Masutang Rasekele

Who plays Dzugudini, a crucial part in the Lovedu history as she is instrumental in saving the kingdom from a catastrophe of drought.

Helen Lebepe (Redemption, Diamond City, Ngempela)

Who plays Raisibe. She assists Modjadji to get a view into the real world of her people and grows to become her confidant.

Thabo Bopape (Saints & Sinners, Zero Tolerance, Gomora, Traffic!)

Who plays the Supreme Mambo/King of the Kharanga Kingdom. He's obsessed with becoming the greatest rainmaker and is racing against time to fix his mistakes and restore the balance as required by his ancestors and end a severe drought.

Queen Modjadji... the starre, She Who Rules, The Role Everyone Wants - still loading.

Series premieres in July.

Someone on Twitter mentioned how Zozi was also cast on The Woman King and had zero dialog along with many other wives to the King but just being ornaments. Same thing on Shaka Ilembe, most of the wives had no dialog except for Ntando Duma, was disappointed they had Sive Mabuya a seasoned actress having not much screen time, not to mention the little dialog she had. Maybe these two will also hardly have that much acting to do but just be ornaments. The most deserving person that needs to be here is Shoki Mmola, hope they book her. And Ngele has been doing so amazing, happy to see her getting more gigs.
