About the Show

One on One is an American sitcom created by Eunetta T. Boone about a single sportscaster who becomes a full-time dad when his ex-wife decides to accept a job out of the country and his teenage daughter Breanna moves in with him.

The series aired in the USA on the now-defunct UPN network from 3 September, 2001 to 15 May, 2006. There are 113 half-hour episodes in five seasons.

The series originally aired in South Africa on SABC1 from 7 November, 2002 to 22 March, 2007. It later aired on DStv's Vuzu and Sony Entertainment Television (SONY) channels. See "Seasons" below for seasonal broadcast dates and times.

Season 5 premiered on SONY on Tuesday 26 November 2013, at 18h40. New episodes broadcast daily, on weekdays. There are 22 episodes in the fifth and final season.

Synopsis

Intelligent and outspoken, the in-your-face 17-year-old Breanna Barnes loves attention. Anywhere there's a crowd, you can bet she's at the centre of the action.

Breanna's sportscaster dad, Flex, is a fun-loving ladies' man who not only wants to be a responsible parent, but also wants to be his daughter's best friend. Flex is happy giving Breanna the freedom to make her own choices, but only if she is willing to accept the consequences.

Flex's best friend and Breanna's godfather, Duane, is a constant presence in their lives for better and sometimes worse.

A used-car salesman who lives next door, Duane has a way of repelling women the way Flex has attracting them.

Keeping Breanna busy is her best friend, Spirit, with whom she creates a lot of mischief, while her best guy-friend, Arnaz, is the object of her on-again off-again affection.

In 2005 the cast was radically shaken up for the fifth and final season, with Kelly Perine and Sicily Sewell getting the chop.

The plot changed too - after graduating from high school, Breanna decides to move from Baltimore to attend college in Los Angeles with Arnaz by her side.

Wanting to pursue films, Flex Alexander decided to appear in only a few episodes, allowing his character, Flex, to occasionally visit Breanna when his job allows.

In 2004, the series received two NAACP Image Award nominations: Flex Alexander earned a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Kyla Pratt earned a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

In 2005, UPN launched a One on One spinoff entitled Cuts.It starred R&B singer/TV actor Marques Houston as Kevin Barnes and actress Shannon Elizabeth as Tiffany.

Both One on One and Cuts were cancelled when the UPN network merged with The WB in 2006 to form The CW network.
